Sheens re-signs as Wests Tigers coach

I like the fact that Tim has basically put it, that if he can't make it happen he will move on.
shows he has challenged himself.
we can't change results of the past seasons.
can only look forward to next week game and perform well for that.

Hope this isn't tangential, but can anyone confirm whether Benji's contract still contains the Sheens clause?

In all this talk of Sheens to Souths, there was a suggestion that Benji would follow him. There were conflicting media reports, with some suggesting he removed the clause and others that he neither confirmed or denied whether the clause was still there.

I hope Sheens is sincere with his request for a year. I'm slightly concerned the deal has the same expiration date as John Lang's. Though if there were any sinister machinations, one would expect Crowe would have induced Sheens to break his contract prior to this season.

i like the conditions of tims deal - obviously tim wants to step up as well.

Yep this definitively proves that the club recognises it needs to improve. I think its fair, given the guy won us a premiership, to give Tim a chance to work with this team he has been building for the past 2 seasons.

Think a one year contract makes absolute sense for all parties involved.Sheens wld prefer to stick around but has options in his back pocket so wld like some certainty for 2011 at the very least,& Tigers wld like to enjoy some success ,starting with this year…so well done to Humphries for managing and execting a very sensible strategy

I'm very happy Sheens will be around to continue his work with WT. He is only half way through completing his second legacy with the club in regards to re-building the squad. Hopefully by that point, his plans will have come to fruition and taken the WT to another level on the park and his contract will be extended to follow through on top of that.
Having said all that, he still does my head in with his selections!!

Forza Sheens. Great news to lock him in for another year. This extension provides both stability for the club and accountability for the coach.

Sheens has turned this place around and his comments (as well as his actions in only signing a one year extension) show how much he loves the club.

haha can we re-open this thread in September. Done Nothing for 4 years. 2 wins to start the year, keeping in mind we always start well and the one loss we had was a big one. Parramatta and Manly were tipped by a lot of experts to miss the 8.

I think its time for change, why not at least wait until the end of the year. Imagine if every year in your job you failed to hit your targets. Sorry boss I failed again, okay well maybe next year. Yep boss again I didnt reach the targets set. etc etc. But hey at least its not as bad when Terry Lamb was coach blah blah blah. We will never learn….

Did you actually read the article or just the title?

Yes I read the article. I have attended many of his lectures at the AGMs (and when he didnt show as well). Was a multiple season ticket holder from 2002-2008 but I had enough. I have taken a stand and wont be stepping up until he is held accountable. I so hate missing the atmosphere of the games but Im sick of the attitude of the team, the supporters and the like that near enough is good enough. How long can we ride off of 1 premiership (1 finals series) in 10 years.

Change is needed and yes simonthetiger my opinion does not change anything but the $1000s of dollars I contributed every year in memorobilia, tickets and the like do…

I think this is a great decision from Sheens. If we don't make a semi-finals or a grand final in the next 2 years, with the squad we have, then it would definetly be a failure.

Good on him for identifying that and good on him for signing early on in the season. I agree with what he said, that him signing eradicates any questions over next season, which keeps the team and the media solely focused on what's happening on the field.

Parramatta not tipped to make the finals by experts??????????

all you moth killers… you seem to miss the key part of the article...

**" ... It doesn't guarantee I'm going to be there, we've still got to do the job."**

the pressure is on.... and me being a moth, well lets face it if anyone is the real winners here its us... he didnt sign for life!

MOTH AND PROUD!

I recall you saying he is doing to us what he done to NTH QLD and sucked them dry…. make your mind up!

BTW your man doesnt hold the record anymore im a happy man!

Ah ….the Moth mentality......

Wherever they are gathering secretly hoping the Wests Tigers fail/lose games so we can punt the Coach......

no not at all. We are like any other WT supporter and want to see our team win, make finals and give ourself a chance of winning the trophie. The last 4 years we havnt even givin ourself a chance.

I sat with a few of them for the first half of the game - and I can tell you now they were cheering the loudest for Tigers to win.

It's the Anti-Moth mentality that say the so called 'moths' want WT to fail.

They are just passionate supporters (yes they do support as hard as it is for some to believe) I don't always agree with things said by some of them, it can be harsh, but I understand the points they are trying to make.

We are all supporters of WT, I mean that's why we are in the forum. No one can judge anyone else's love of the club.

"I asked for a year, not any longer than that, to work with this group," he said after Friday night's 23-12 win over Parramatta. If I can't get it to happen then I won't be here and I'd stand down myself on that basis." Tim Sheens

All im hearing from supercoach is blah blah blah. He should have been taking this stand and offering to sign a 1 yr contract 2 years ago…not now! What an absolute joke. Why dont we just extend his contract til 2050.

Good to hear..not questioning the passion of your support at all…lets see if that changes if there is back to back losses....

Losses happen and we can't hope for a perfect season undefeated but in the past few years I've watched my team come out and not compete too many times and someone needs to be held responsible, last week we did that and it's not good enough with the roster we have. Sheens wanted a clean out he got it, if he fails to make the 8 this year I will not be happy one bit. If he does make the 8 I reckon the moths will be the first to be at the gates to get tickets. I think alot of you get our sheens out theory and passion for this club mixed up. Yous all seem to think we are haters and ungrateful and to the point not "real/true" supporters/fAns.
