We can't replace Madge at the moment, purely for our credibility externally. He has the runs on the board.

The changes would need to be made at CEO level first, before we contemplate the coach. Even if the issue is the coach, he hasn't presided over the hole that we're in. He's desperately trying to dig us out.

I've always been a big backer of Pascoe, but he may need to fall on his sword soon if things don't improve.

What does Pascoe have todo with performance of the football department?

He had a direct hand in the farah fiasco, backing JT at the time and also losing the 'Big 3'. To say he is not accountable for anything to do with football is rubbish.

A CEO cannot appoint a manager underneath him (i.e. Head Coach) and absolve responsibility. It's not 2 separate organizations.

Is the head coach also responsible to ensure that the junior pathway structure is set? Or does the CEO make sure he has the right people in for that. Major dropped ball there.

Lets also not forget the direct impact he had on our football department with that cap fine.

Who do you think told him to remove Farah. It would not have been Pascoe’s idea.

You absolutely can have organisation’s where the CEO has operational and financial responsibility but not football responsibility. Most CEO’s would be clueless when it comes to what makes a good football team. In that instance the CEO only has operational responsibility ie pay and entitlements over the football dept, but the head of football has performance responsibility and would report to the Board.

Many organisations are set up like this.

As I said I haven’t seen an Org Chart but viewing how things have occurred I think this is most likely how Wests Tigers are run. Before the head of football was appointed it would have been solely the coach.

It is even more likely when there is such a different skill set needed to run each side of the business of a footy club.

Exactly.

Football clubs are really a 2 headed beast, you have the football department and then virtually unrelated the commercial side of the business. Both sides rely on the results of the other but the management of them would usually be best kept separate.

Does Hartigan report direct to the board?

No, on paper it is to Pascoe but having spoken to him a number of times he has a lot of freedom in his role.

Surely someone gets the axe from this years performance I’m looking at hartigan.

If that is the decision we make we are in a lot of trouble.

The system ain’t working at the moment would you agree and who would you let go?

No I don't agree, I think the changes we are currently making are to ensure our future. We are signing good young talent, we are now putting the systems in place to ensure they have the best opportunity to transition into 1st grade.

Hartigan would be the last person I sack.

We got beat by over 60 the current mob are hopeless

Which has nothing to do with what I said, we are currently building for the future and you want to sack the one guy that has the most chance of ensuring we are attracting the right young players to our club.

Who would you let go of then?

Or it’s all rainbows ? and this lot are Magically going to turn things around?

Someone needs to go this year performance should be unacceptable

At this point I am not convinced about Maguire as coach but do not believe the club is in a position to sack him. I do believe we are making the decisions at the moment that will see us in a better position in the future.

Re watching storm game, I heard on wests tigers podcast someone at the club said to them they weren’t keen on dale finucane cause he can’t pass. Are you kidding me watch the storm game he is all class.

Wonder if ripping out the current coaches and replace them with Flanagan. We already have Flanagan ex physio?

lol, it wasn't me that said that. I would take Finucane and TPJ.

Are you on that podcast mate?

Yes lol

Nice mate I really enjoy it.

I'm Garry, only started doing it this year. I'm probably the one you disagree with.

Sheens must be shaking his head that he has to rebuild the pathways he built 17 years ago.

Let's not forget Gallagher that Sheens and Humphries backended contracts caused us years of salary cap mess - and led to the RF and Benji Marshall screw ups. Not to mention the start of the rebuild that saw us off load good club men for Adam Blair - and instead of building on the clubs success we we went backwards. Brilliant coach at the time but left us in a mess.

The real issue with Maguire that no one seems to mention is his lack of charisma and personality.

Ask yourself the question who is this guy, what does he do for fun. Is he married, what do we know about him other than he is robotic and militant in his approach to coaching.

The now generation will never respond to that. They need someone they can respect and relate to.

I doubt many of our players either respect or relate to this guy.

There in lies the problem.

Baloney. Just because he's private doesn't mean he isn't respectable or has no personality.

Wayne Bennett is drier than the Sahara and publicly cantankerous, but doesn't seem to impact his ability to be liked by his players. Brad Fittler seems quite popular, not a really good club coach though. Some other coaches VERY well liked, not good coaches either.

Lol Wayne Bennet is one of the most loved coaches in the history of the game. Thats based on reports of pretty much every player who played for him.

Maybe you need to take a step back from your comment and compare a one trick pony drill sergeant and and brilliant man manager in Wayne Bennett.

No you totally misunderstand me and you prove my point.

I did not equate charisma with respect, you did that. I didn't say Wayne Bennett was unpopular. I said he is publicly cantankerous and my point was exactly as you proved - how he "appears" to be in public probably has next to no bearing on what he's really like as a coach and mentor.

You said Maguire has lack of charisma and personality. I've never met the bloke and I think it's a joke to suggest you know what he's like as a person.

No the guy has no personality. Any fool can see that.

Any fool, huh?

I think those on the sack somebody side want to know more about these systems. To us it just feels like our system is ‘sign anyone we can get’. TPJ being the latest example.

I think the strategy is quite clear and have spoken about it a lot on here, we are signing the best young players and are currently spending money to improve our pathways to give them the best chance of progressing to NRL level. At this point in time we have difficulty attracting the elite NRL talent and that will not change until we get past the 10 years without a finals berth stigma that currently dogs us.

spoken on here and spoken by the club is not the same.

Club isn't going to make their recruitment strategy officially public. Even already Lee has his balls handed to him by a subset of fans any time he mentions a player in the media.

they speak it or the managers so. No one cares about the fans. I'd settle for a garbage comment to be honest. better that they media saying how we should sign.

Maguire's batting average is in deficit.

Pascoe's average is near Sir Donald's.

We all know who should have fallen on his sword after the debacle last Saturday.

Didn’t realise Sir Donald was suspended for 6 months. Learn something every day.

Pascoe has the WTs firing off field. He's doing a fine job, the one he is paid to do. Pity the same can't be said for Magure. Even greater a pity Maguire can't see this and if his heart is truly for WTs fall on his sword. There is not much left after that debacle.

Nuffie for 4 more seasons yep any wonder !

Who would you replace him with?

Did Pascoe preside over signing and then ensured we re-signed Maguire for 2 more years? Who should fall on their sword again?

That's not a strong counter; that there are no quality coaches to replace him. Move him on and the club will be inundated with quality.

You didn’t answer the question? I didn’t mention anything about quality coaches?

So why doesn't Sir Donald do it? Piss weak.
