Why all the focus on Laurie for doing it? The Panthers were deadset appealing it half the time they were coming out of their own end. They were far worse than us when it came to refbaiting and imo, it is worse to feign injury and not admit to it than what Laurie did.

It's not like the bloke winked at the camera or something. Do we even know what he was smiling about? To me it looked like he was laughing because he knew the Panthers had screwed up and got caught. Apparently getting hit late and high and smiling about it isn't okay.

Agree - he did get hit high and I think he smiled back at the old teammate for getting caught. Later when Burton scored he actually said sorry to Matt as there may have seemed to be late contact as he was scoring.

Some of the things Kikau stays down for are a deadset embarrassment to himself.
Real pity full-on stinks are a thing of the past, I reckon Jet would've given Kikau a flogging the other night.

That was about right. We were in the stands near where he came off we missed the HIA signal. We only realised when he went back on several minutes later, and wondered whether he was off for the ten.

Kikau is the Panthers version of Sam Burgess. Runs at the centres and halves and gets lauded as a barmstorming hero for doing it.

If you go off for a legitimate HIA I think you are supposed to be off for 15 minutes?

He got hit on the face/head, always a penalty with the new crackdown rules

Not his fault the officials were gonna miss it

Im sure you would have been up in arms IF we didnt get a penalty for that incident

Fact is, any contact is being penalised, regardless of how minor it is

If you go off for a legitimate HIA I think you are supposed to be off for 15 minutes?

I think 15 minutes is the time you have to complete the assessment or you can’t come back. There is no time set that you have to stay off for, you just need to pass the assessment.

The only way "diving" is going to be stopped if refs start penalising blatant attempts to milk it. Unfortunately the NRL has painted themselves in a corner by mandating any contact to the head whether it be a stiff arm or a fingernail to the hair warrants a penalty. Common sense was thrown out with this particular rule. They could make a complete farce of it and put in place that any player who receives a penalty for a head high must go off for a HIA. Teams would have to weigh up whether a penalty is a good compensation for the disruption the HIA would cause.
