Sign two players for 2015

Hey everyone, I'm still suffering from post-NRL boredom so I thought I'd get a little hypothetical discussion going.

As we all know, it looks as if Mayer will be going hard into the market to sign some marquee players for 2015\. Just to kick off an interesting discussion, out of all the off-contract players for 2015 which two would you sign and why?
_For argument's sake, let's pretend we have $1.2 million a year to spend on these two particular players._

Mine would be:

James Graham and Glenn Stewart

James Graham wouldn't have to move far and as he is from England he has no real strong loyalty to the Bulldogs. Glenn Stewart is the type of hard working back rower we need and as it looks like he will be pushed out of Manly due to Salary cap, he may not want to move too far (only other option close to Northern Beaches would be Roosters or Bunnies but I doubt they will be able to fit him into the salary cap).

James Graham wouldn't have to even move house and as he is from England he has no real strong loyalty to the Bulldogs. He must have mates who played under Potter aswell so if the price is right, you never know. Unless the Simona Lawrence combo works out- I reckon we'D be going for an outside back tbh.

I doubt well be offering contracts to bodene, Anasta and Patterson is still an unknown afaik.

Really? I would think that the first order of business would be to bolster our forward pack with some veteran NRL players.

IMO, our outside backs would carve up with a strong forward pack, particularly Simona and Tedesco

As long as we can secure our stars firstly We have Woods ,Tedesco ,Sirro ,Nofoa , Marika and a list of others off contract

Outside the Tigers would Jamie Lyon and Anthony Watmough

The other I'd be tempted buy is Moi Moi I think we would really prosper having a forward of his nature despite his age if the money was right

By mid season we will realise all we need to do is secure our current players. Looking at each position and the individual we have im confident we wont need to sign anyone.

Teddy, Simona, Nofo and Koro give us the oustide youth and speed. A return to form from Lawrence and having Richards back giive us outside experience.

Austin proving to be classy and cool headed, Brooks taking his chance and a few class youngsters lead by Moses means we wont need any halves.

Thats the backs covered.

Forget buying a front rower. By seasons end we will have 4 rep class front rowers and 2 or 3 decent back up ones. Blair, Ava, Galloway, Woods, Brown, Buchanan and Taupau will all kill it.

Bwckrow is probably the only possibility. Clearly Fulton is here to stay and i believe Sirro will be better than SBW. I also think Sue and Patterson will go great. All we need is for BMM to get his act together and backrow is covered.

Hooker is covered with Farah.

So we dont need any BIG signings, we have the next BIG things here already.

Optimistic?

Given we have many players off contract, I'd look at retaining David Nofoaluma, Ava Seumanufagai, Curtis Sironen, Sauaso Sue, James Tedesco, Aaron Woods.

I want to wait and see how James Gavet, Marika Koroibete, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Cory Paterson and Bodene Thompson go this year. It's make or break for them IMO.

Our current forward stocks are pretty good. If guys like BMM and Paterson perform, then we need to look at an outside back. Jamie Lyon would be ideal but I can't see him leaving Manly. Would take Josh Morris at the right price.

I think recruitment will depend on the performances of few as you said…

Bmm
Paterson
Gavet

For example... If these 3 perform, we have depth in the backrow, if they don't we maybe short...

Won't be able to specify until the season has kicked off!

A heap of optimism there KS, but I must I share most of it. Having said that, we have to turnover some players to freshen things up and will need to sign a couple of specific ones.

Jake Trbojevic and either Ryan James or Kevin Proctor

And no sooner than I say that James is re-signed, so i'd say proctor.
There are a couple of other interesting options in Jack De Belin and Kyle O'Donnell both off contract.

need a back who is " cranky and non compromising"
I agree with happy tiger.
go approach Jamie Lyon & Anthony Watmough.
worst they say is no.
if you don't ask, you don't get.

All depends how we go early this year IMO. I am happy with our outside backs but we have Nofoaluma, Tedesco and Koroibete all off contract so the question will come up if all 3 keep thier spots.

Depending on how Simona and Lawrence go we may need a centre but my understanding is in young Marion Seve we have the next superstar centre just starting in the U20s after winning the Peter Sterling medal last year.

Backrow seems where we really will need to see what happens , we have lots but Murdoch Masiala, Sironen, Patterson, Thompson, Vella and Sue are all off contract with only Blair and Fulton having contracts past this year. So I think that will be our focus area and it will depend on how our current players go across the board as to who gets resigned and for how much

omg. you just picked out 2 of the players i would LEAST pick in the entire nrl.

both are absolute dogs i would hate to see wearing a tigers jersey.

great question though; i am just on a completely different plane where your choices are concerned.

at this time of year i cant think of anyone?! just not them or bird….

Im wondering if we even need/can afford two? We have nathan brown, lovett and fiagatusa coming through the system too.

i'd say get SBW and leave it at that. the juniors will sort out the rest i reckon
