Signing Rumours..

Sirro hasn't shown he deserves a spot in 1st grade. If he trains as lazily as he plays then its easy to see why he is being played in reggies, the majority of coaches pick players of lesser talent who show commitment over blokes with natural talent who just coast along and bludge- that is obviously the reason Rankin and Lovett get the opportunity in the top grade.
Sirro doesn't have the mobility or the passing & kicking game required of a 5/8\. Nor the willingness to get involved and bust his gut.

Having massive amounts of speed ,talent and size advantages in the juniors can stunt the work ethic

Relying on your god given talents can be the death of potential stars , trying to develop a work ethic comparable to blokes who have had to scratch and crawl their way to the top of the bunch through hard work and willingness to not compromise throughout there career is damn near impossible

The temptation for those more talented blokes is to take short cuts …., and there are no short cuts to the top of the mountain

Ask Cooper Cronk

You wouldn't have to ask Cronk, he will tell ya himself.
Maybe Sirro doesn't have as many sinews as Coopy?
Nothing against Cronk but it could be easy to see how he would be classed as bog average if he was playing in a dud team with substandard forwards-he has been very lucky he has played behind a better than average pack throughout his career at club, Origin and Test level. A lot of players who have ended up on the scrapheap prematurely haven't had the same luxury.

Doesn't matter which journo writes something negative about the Tigers (and a lot more than Rothfield do) - they are immediately hacks with an agenda against the club.
Forget your opinion on Sironen's playing ability - he only got dropped after his old man criticised a facet of Taylor's coaching.
Time some people woke up that where there's smoke there's fire.

Why forget his playing ability?
Doesnt that suit your agenda?
His playing stank…end of story

Well said ink.

:righton: :righton:

Sorry to have to spell it out so you understand my point….

Taylor didn't drop Sironen because of his play (whether anyone thinks it was poor or not) - he dropped him for personal reasons, same as he did to Farah.

Myself? I didn't think he was going that great either - although he was picked in the City team.

Coaches should pick the best players for the job in right positions - not just players that line up to wash their car.

Taylor obviously holds a pretty mean grudge.

Personal reasons? It wouldn't have had something to do with the fact that we had just signed Elijah Taylor and that left no room for Siro?

If Kev goes to England i'd assume the English club would take up his who salary. He'd have to be on about 180-200 with us.

I'd take Rankin over Sirro at 5/8 any day.

Des Hasler anyone?
How about General Manger of Football, at least.

He is a control freak. Spends money that puts the club on its knees hence the pressure he is facing now.
Manly he sent the player budget out of control and now he has done the same at the dogs.

The guy just buys until he gets a result.

Hasler is a winner has the runs on the board and as many have posted only negativity around him no he will not be at the Tigers..mediocrity rules around here no doubt .Personaly I would throw every thing at him to come to our club .

There is no way on gods green earth we could even afford him. He commands 1m plus a season.
We won't ever be in a position to be paying coaches that much.

The DCE deal has been the thing that has really stuffed Manly. Don't think Des had anything to do with that.
is the deal 10mil over 10 yrs?

Manly got rid of him because he was spending money hand over fist trying to win.
Now its going in at the dogs, transferring players and paying overs.
He does get results but at what cost? Manly are in the toilet post Hasler. Once he leaves the dogs the sycophant players he cradles will also leave with him leaving a mess.

Yeah no thanks again. I'll stick with JT for now. At least he isn't busting our budget and he is buying astutely.

One of JT's positives to me has been not paying overs. I reckon over time that makes a difference.

I do not know why spending money is the problem. Dogs can afford it they have one of the biggest clubs in Sydney, plenty of TPA's and a good supporter base. You have to spend money, look at the Roosters, Bonkos & Storm their success is a reflection of their spending.

I wouldnt compare JT and DH.

I'm not sure about JT buying astutely. ET is the only one I would say is of note and his performance dipped as the season come to an end.

I would be happy with DH as our coach but not in O'niells vacated role. It would be divisive.

Maybe Brian Smith can do another review of the club :brick:

Wouldn't be too bothered if Naiqama leaves. He's not a starter level quality player in first grade, merely a backup. He's handy to have but as he could potentially fill in a few positions but I reckon someone like Heleta could do just as well.

It would free up another 100k or so, depending on who we replace him with in the 25.

if we lose kev and gain idris its a pretty big win imo

only problem for me is that it probably means rankin has a mortgage on the 2 for the year. our three quarter depth is very poor.
