Signing Rumours..

Vaughan has signed with the red v for 3 years on a 1.75 million dollar contract.

Yet another missed opportunity for the tigers.

At that price we have missed nothing that is massive overs

Does anyone really think Liddle is a better prospect than Cherrington? I have my doubts.

I do. Cherro was flashier in attack, but Liddle is much more direct and far better in defence.

Time will tell, though.

Agreed.

At first i didnt think so but now i have no doubt at all that Liddle is lengths ahead of Cherrington in every department. Speed, vision, toughness, class….he has it all over Cherrington.

Cherry started in front, and was highly touted while Liddle was starting in NYC and just doing his work. Now 2 years later Liddle is far superior in almost every facet of the game. His defence is a million times better, and he has the grit and determined attitude which is really often whats sets apart promising juniors from first graders. He's intelligent, reads the game well, supports well, is quick and an excellent runner.

Cherry probably still has a slightly better passing and kicking game but Liddle can work on that over time. Defence and attitude are much harder to learn which makes Liddle seem a definite top shelf nrl prospect and Cherry still a fringe player with no clear path to first grade.

And on Vaughan, he's gone from being a fringe Raider to almost the highest paid forward on the Dragons' books. Doesn't that seem like a massive jump? They're a club struggling more than us and need to pay overs to get anyone.

And i'd certainly see Charlie Taylor as a potential first grader. Looks to have all the parts. No sure about his contract situation. Having signed with barely a month left in the regular season you'd say he's contracted for this year. Likely 2nd tier though, which could cause cap problems if he becomes a first choice winger.

Mole's reporting Whare on the outer at Penrith but looking at a return to Manly. Always had time for that bloke, but injuries are a concern.

I assume Penrith would have to cough up some of his contract for 2017.

$600k a year for Vaughn? That's stupid overs.

We're mental if we don't look at Whare. If we grab Idris on the cheap as well you could slot them both in the centres and put Simona on the wing (where he is his most dangerous IMO.)

A fit Whare would be ideal but I don't see it happening if we are still struggling to find the dollars to re-sign ET.

I agree, Liddle definitly looks like a star of the future. I dont mind him being rushed into first grade and hope he gets decent playing time. The only weakness i see is his weight. He will definitly need to bulk up in the off season as opposition forwards will run at him all day.

Whare has made us look silly on many occasions, and has speed to burn…

Yes Please!

A lot of ordinary players have made us look stupid, but Whare is not an ordinary player, he would surely be an upgrade on what we have

Wests Tigers skipper Aaron Woods admits he has no idea what the NRL club will be like without premiership-winning legend Robbie Farah.

The Tigers will be without Farah in their squad for the first time since 2002 next season, after the out-of-favour NSW hooker moved to South Sydney on a two-year deal.

Woods and Farah have been a key part of the club since the Kangaroos prop made his debut in 2011.

But Farah's falling out with coach Jason Taylor has resulted in the 2005 premiership winner exiting the joint venture and Woods says the Tigers will be a great unknown minus their former skipper.

"I'm not sure how things will be," Woods told AAP.

"I have never been at the club with Robbie not being there so it is something else.

"It is going to be a bit different. I don't know how it is going to go.

"There are a lot of boys there who have to pick up their games, we lose a lot of experience in Robbie and (retired utility Dene) Halatau.

"So we are going to have to pick up the slack."

Woods flies out from Sydney to Manchester on Thursday ahead of the start of the Four Nations in Britain later this month.

He skipped Australia's win over New Zealand in Perth on Saturday due to his marriage.

The Kangaroos front-rower won't join the Tigers for pre-season training until the new year.

The good news for Tigers fans is that two-time premiership winning Manly rake Matt Ballin is expected to be fit for the start of the 2017 after missing all of this year due to a knee injury.

Ballin will have backup in youngster Jacob Liddle and recent signing Matt McIlwrick.

"I won't be there at the start of the pre-season with the boys so I will have to wait and see how things turn out in the new year," Woods said.

"With Matty, Jacob Liddle and Matty McIllwrick there are a few boys there.

**"We have some good signings and Matty's (Ballin) knee will be right.**

"He has started running again so that should be all fine."

But he wouldn't be cheap. And has had a lot of injuries in recent years. Would be a huge risk. Way bigger than Idris

How many more players do you guys want to fit under the Knee-Reconstruction salary Cap…

How is it a missed opportunity…Vaughan may be good but no way he is worth the overs the Dragons have paid to get him....As a Prop who most of his career has come off the bench that's crazy money...

I'm glad we passed if it's the case..

Dragons are a lot bigger basket case then we ever were, that's why they have to pay overs.
Even Mark Coyne admitted that in the Sunday papers.

Yep i agree thats big money for Vaughan, i think he looks a good player in a great pack, but not a player that is going to make a good pack great.

liddle is the better of the two, agree with the above but what really shines for me is his attitude (from what i have read) this kid has toiled through a number of preseasons (to play 1 FG game) and earns the praise of club officials. Preseason is hell and if you can get pats on the back after that you must have some ticker!

Yep - big difference between taking a punt on Idris compared to Where when you compare the $$ involved in each case…

Everyone seems to be giving Liddle the big tick of approval on here, so not having seen much of him play compared to Cherrington, I'll take your word for it and hope to God he can live up to the hype! Apparently we have officially signed McIlwrick as well, so at least the club is looking at alternatives, which I didn't know about when I first posted my concerns about the hooking role.

This is some footage of Jacob Liddle from the Tigers official website.

Looks like what you all said is true.

Hope to see him playing in 2017

I have watched Liddle playing in Cup and I wouldn't be wasting $$$ on buying other hookers. He is a very good player and I would be focussing on him for the top job.

i thought cherrington had a lot of promise when he started but in the last two years has gone backwards. Liddle, long term who knows - i think he looks slick when he plays. Anyone who gets praise for preseason has to be given credit, i can't recall where i heard it but a retired FG said "players don't retire because of games they retire cause they don't want to go through another preseason"
