It's very obvious that the Tigers will struggle to make the 8 this year with the lack of experience and quality players in the back row & bench. Marty is a front rower playing in the back row and other than Woods & Farah not much else goes well in the forwards.

If the Tigers don't sign some decent players for 2016 we will be in a similar climate to now. I don't see to many quality players left, what is the plan for 2016
, does anyone have anything ?

It's not unusual to see front rowers playing at lock any more.

Stark reality is we're rooted from a money and salary cap perspective.

Im not concerned about marquee signings, as if we are good enough, we can create our own marquees.

The problems is you can't have it both ways, you should be either able to afford to buy players - a la the roosters, or build teams from junior stocks - much akin to the broncos, and what we have done in 2005.

You can't have it both ways (Warriors, Im looking at you!) however you should be able to do ONE of those things well.

The Tigers at the moment are slipping away from the doing ONE of those things right, which is a real worry.

While there are examples where 'buy mostly' works, there are also the same number (if not more) where this strategy failed e.g . Warriors, Titans, Parra,
WT (Hill, Hapoate, McCracken, Buetner, Sattler, O'Harra, Blair, Anasta).
My preferred solution is where we only buy players we really need at the discount (e.g. Prince, Hodgson, Tuiaki, Taupau, Lodge etc.). I was/am more excited with prospect of Marshall, Farah, Dwyer, Woods, Tedesco, Nofoaluma, SImona, Martin than any marquee (read very expensive) player.
Storm, Broncos and Panthers for instance are the best examples that 'develop only/mostly' strategy works.

Opens thread in great anticipation for a signing only to discover it is another of the many many threads that offer squat…sigh,,,

I can handle no first grade signing if they completely over haul the State Cup team.

5 or 6 smart buys from QLD Cup and other State Cup or NYC teams will help set us up going forward.

Everyone knows the players who should be replaced in State Cup, no need to mention them again.

I agree. I don't want to risk big name signings. I also think with the salary cap this has to be managed extremely carefully.

Not that we ever stood a chance of landing anyone special, but is there any player off contract atm, that clubs are fighting over that would make a real difference to our squad?

If we sign anyone it will be the likes of Ryan Morgan or Adam Docker.

I would like to have a crack at brenko lee.

I don't think he would be all that expensive. Has shown quality coming through the ranks.

We will only be purchasing bargain buys for 2016.

Someone called Leo Simona (apparently Tim's little brother) posted on Facebook yesterday that Mose Masoe has signed with us, and it will be coming out shortly through the media.

Don't know if it was serious or a joke?

Pretty stupid joke to make however, so take it as you want.

Don't why it's so hard to find a second rower who can run a good line and is defensively apt.

Rowdy is already our best second rower and he's spent what, four or fives games there?

We need a centre and a good quality second rower.

CB, I think we have been shuffling the deck chairs because we are skinny on props. Sue is a second rower and a good one at that, plus as you say Rowdy is looking good thank god, which should ultimately give a bench spot to the likes of Siro who could do with being brought on slower. Whether you rate him or not Siro is on the books for a while now so we need to be using him as effectively as we can.

Sue gets grief for penalties ala Blair, but Blair is again getting acolades at Brisbane. I think it boils down to being the only guys who dominate in the wrestle so efficiently they stand out at the Tigers, where as other teams the wrestle is better across the board so the ruck speed is consistantly slower and thus Blair doesnt stand out so much.

I think we are 2 props short and at the very least a centre, if not 2\. Masoe if true would be a good start. Pigs should be the easier players to find at the right price.

Let's get our spin doctors working on a makeover for Karmichael and take him from the Reds. Probably a few former and current team mates would be happy for him to leave QLD before he continues his canary impersonation. The Reds may even top up his contract for us!

Sure it wasn't Leo Wanker who posted?
