Mole tweeted widdop wants out from the dragons and head to the super league

Widdop must think he isnt getting enough money so he is putting pressure on the dragons

This is what’s wrong with the game. They have him under contract for 3 more years. Why they should they feel pressured. The Warriors refused to grant SJ a release today, yet they are the bad guys for doing so. Contracts are a total sham and don’t mean a thing. All they are good for is providing leverage for when the other party wants to prematurely end it. That’s seriously all they good for in Rugby League.

Unfortunately we lack good leadership in the NRL these situations should not be allowed to happen(same as the Cleary fiasco).Greenberg is a total disgrace,

Agreed. Have you ever seen a more reactive organisation then the NRL? Where is the leadership being proactive and putting a line in the sand. Contracts need to be adhered too. No more getting out of them by players and clubs. So sick of it.

I can’t remember who said this but I like the idea that if you break a contract you sit out until the term of the contract has expired. I suppose that’s what happened with Tallus years ago. Should go for players and coaches.

Got a link to that thread Gal?
Haven't seen it but I'm not surprised…. Poor guys a bit of a loser... Feel a bit sorry for him.... Lol

Well over a year ago now, I wouldn't even be about ti guess the thread title. Funny stuff though, ill have a bit of a search later

Or if you use the “mental wellbeing” clause to escape a contract, you can’t receive a cent more than your current deal. It should be about your wellbeing not your bank account

So they should. Clubs need to be accountable too. Too many like the sharks and eels breaking the salary cap to get their own way.

They need to publicise all salaries of all players.

My guess is Flanagan https://twitter.com/ReadingThePlay/status/1067341010454237184?s=19

I suspect Flanno has a gig at Sharks for life. He had to be in it up to his eyeballs with the peptides, the salary cap cheating, he is as dodgy as anything and he would have some massive dirt on the club.

I would be very surprised if he ever left on bad terms, maybe with a golden handshake on good terms perhaps.

But then we wouldn't have all these player movement during the off season…. #nrlmediamachine

Just wondering do people on here have multiple user accounts cause I could swear it that I am starting to notice some trends….

What do you mean by trends

It’s obvious isn’t it, I feel like some posters are really just the same person because when they post, they are conveying a message that has been repeated a thousand times over
They are the trends I’m noticing.
It could just be that we are all like minded but some points are really getting repetitive.

What's the NRL supposed to do about a contract deal between a player and club, or two clubs?

If Widdop wants to leave, St George are legally authorised to keep him and restrain his trade with other parties. NRL can refuse to register his contract with another NRL club. But if he wants to go back to ESL, does NRL have a reciprocal contract agreement with the ESL? Can the NRL prevent St George from reaching an agreement w Widdop?

And then there's contracts law, i.e. the national/state laws by which the NRL must abide. tiga4eva gave an idea to cut payment for players arguing mental wellbeing, which is totally not legal.

Yeah it’s bad times.
Clubs cheating on and off the field.
Poor communication between Greenberg and the fans.
Overkill on evolving the game.
Killing the spirit of what rugby league once had.

The games getting harder to watch, not because I follow the tigers….lol.
Because of all the Switcheroos and cheap deals.
When teams had locals and stalwarts and life members playing for them you followed a club.
It’s losing that pure side of the game.

If a player is having psychological issues that will not allow them to play I.e moses before he left us then their is nothing stopping the player from quittng League and getting another job.

The NRL needs to put rules in place that are binding. For example a player can leave in the last year of his contract if he leaves for a 25% less of the current contract. Not sure the rules but the player and club should be punished for early contract breaks

If we sign a house loan contract, I can't tell the bank after 3 year I have mental issues and get out of it.

What cop out.

I don’t think I have ever heard of one AFL player leaving a club mid season to go somewhere else. It just doesn’t happen. I tend to roll my eyes whenever the usual suspects bash the NRL for everything but the weather, however this contract crap is way out of control now. Time the NRL showed some gumption. But they won’t, so what can you do.
