As opposed to accusing the club of preferring to chase mediocre players over players with X-factor because they prefer mediocrity over success, when you don’t even know the ins and outs of the clubs cap situation. Now that’s ignorant.

Well if we dont have cap room for a marquee or two then our cap is horribly mismanaged. If we have room, then we need to get those players. Its not irrational for a fan to have those expectations.

As I said yesterday, we probably do have room, but does that mean we chase a player in a position we don’t really need just so we can feel warm and fuzzy about signing a marquee player? Using Klemmer as an example, I’d have been filthy if we had paid close to 1 million dollars to get him. What a waste of money. Instead, we pick up Musgrove for 3 times less the money, and we can put that money we didn’t blow on Klemmer to better use. To attract a Dylan Walker or a Shaun Johnson.

Agree on Klemmer and I think fans like Steve and i would be happier if overlooking him resulted in a marquee signing. Historically it hasnt happened.

If we signed Klemmer we would be cheering from the rooftops. As if our pack wouldnt benefit from him, he is exactly what we needed.
The "not worth it" tag just sounds like a convenient reason for not being able to attract players of his calibre.
Newcastle identified their weakness and they went after one of the best and they got him - as a fan I will be elated when we do the same.

The Widdop move is a game changer.

Shaun Johnson comes into consideration but if he is wrapped up elsewhere then someone like Luke Brooks suddenly has a new offer on his table.

Even old Josh Reynolds might get a run at the dragons if the cards fell right.

Might be a little longer before the Brooks thing is cleared up now.

why is it that when you read a post there are several of the same as you scroll down, am I missing something or is it a flaw, a bit irritating. Anyway it looks like Ryan Matterson is a good bye, I've been watching re-runs of rooster games and if we can squeeze a bit more aggression out of him and stays on the field for whole game he's gonna be a keeper, got size and height too.

Not sure how the Dragons replace Widdop - regardless of who they approach. Massive loss if they grant him a release.

My guess would be Corey Norman and yes, that would be a big downgrade.

I can’t remember who said this but I like the idea that if you break a contract you sit out until the term of the contract has expired. I suppose that’s what happened with Tallus years ago. Should go for players and coaches.

So they should. Clubs need to be accountable too. Too many like the sharks and eels breaking the salary cap to get their own way.

They need to publicise all salaries of all players.

Yeah and the Knights are paying him $900K a year, way too much for a prop.

Well we should at least hear where Shaun Johnson is going soon lol

they r in a bit of a muddle atm… i think nearly every club this year has been in some sort of drama of their own, whether it be player or coach

I dont like to get into the rights and wrongs of contracts too often but yep the whole thing has become a joke.

We have Johnson now available
Brooks unsigned (still)
Widdop wanting to go home
Warriors dont have a half back

Roosters, Sharks, Raiders, Tigers, Dragons, Warriors and Eels all playing the guessing game right now.

Where will the pieces fall.

You have to think that Sean Johnson and Gareth Widdop are linked

Newcastle have done a remarkable job in the last few seasons of turning their squad around.

yeah, Nathan brown has been on point with their signings…

i think making finals is the bare minimum for knights next year
