I'd much rather have Dylan Edwards/Hopoate/Milne over Hiku.
How about this
1\. Lolohea
2\. Nofo
3\. Suli
4\. Milne/Hopoate
5\. Dylan Edwards/Fonua

Hopoate said he wants a no Sunday clause in his next deal. Not sure if that means we won't be chasing him or not

Well, if he wants an NRL contract next year he better forget the no Sunday clause

There are ways of negotiating his contract demand.
#1 - Yes, you can have Sundays off so long as there are players in the same playing position (eg centre) in the top squad not injured and available to play. If there are injuries to said players then you must be available.

#2 - you must be available for selection if the side makes the finals

But why would we want to have another player on our books just to play them when he's not available. Why not just keep said player and get rid of Hoppo? It's either he plays on Sundays, or he doesn't play at all. I imagine it would be the same mentality with the rest of the NRL teams, excluding the Broncos who really don't care if he plays Sundays or not.

If two clubs give up on a player who is still signed to them, I would say that's a pretty good sign that we shouldn't look at signing that player.

You've missed my point. You wouldn't have an extra player on the books. Every team has a number of hookers, props, centres, fullbacks in their top squad of 25/30.
If Hopoate agrees and we have 4 centres "nominated", then he can have Sunday games off. If 3 of those that were nominated are injured, he must play.

Remember, it's not every game, just Sundays

How does everyone feel about Jorge Taufua?

Fona and Taufua are very similar type of players. Both very good finshers, can start our sets off well although both are bit suspect in defence but in saying that most wingers have trouble reading the attack plus also depends on your inside men and what decisons they make.
I would be happy with either at the right price.

SG- thoughts on Adam Elliot??? Any chance we can make a play for him?

Yep not interested in hiku. Taufua is interesting. With all these links to off contracted players, I still can't see where our goals are gonna come from next year. We need a goal kicking winger or fullback.

Best mates with fonua as well it seems. (Misleading URL title)

Who is off contract that can kick goals well but plays wing or Centre , Fullback , we will need a kicker .
If Moses goes early we can use Rankin at 5/8 and kick but next season with Josh on his way here ?

I posted today about a friend who's linked with the Roosters had sent me a message today and said that he was sorry about what would happen in about the next 10 minutes. Sure enough the Tedesco saga unfolded and became official soon after. I gave him a bit of stick about how they fit him in their salary cap. I asked who they're letting go to fit him in threw the names Guerra, Evans (had been announced already to Eels, Fergo, SKD and Gordon out there being the obvious ones, but asked if Mitchell and Watson would now leave because they're stuck behind better players. For what it's worth he said all the above names I mentioned were bang on except Mitchell (who I'd love to steal). Apparently he really enjoys playing at centre. Personally, I think he'll want to go to fullback sooner rather then later as he can earn more money at fullback and he's likely overpaid as a centre so Roosters may push him out with a healthy and firing Tedesco. He said Watson probably won't stay and I'd absolutely love to get him.

No hoppa…
not interested.

Agree, we shouldn't even be pointing a finger in his direction IMO (pun intended)

Plays one good game and his name is coming from the hills. Has been average at best for a number of years. He's a talent, but I really think there's better options. We need speed. Get Gideon Gela Mosby on the wing and Watson/Lolohea/Edwards at fullback. Watson/Lolohea could play anywhere in the backline if needed and Edwards could cover fullback/wing. Cheaper options, young and hungry.

Having a top 17 player in and out of the team depending on the day we play is disruptive to the team and forming combinations.

Too hot and cold and bad under the high ball. I remember Toovey sent him to reserve grade for many bad drops.
Can score a try and run from dummy half though.

We need multiple wingers/ centres assuming we let go Idris, Naiqama, Rankin, Hunt also Simona gone.
5 backline players may go and we have signed MWZ.
I wouldn't be surprised if we tried for many of those rumoured.

SKD has an offer from Newcastle, around $500k, but he has many property investments in the eastern suburbs so prefers to stay with the Roosters for as little as $200k-$250k if they make the offer.

Last I heard is Guerra is likely to Titans and Fergo back to Cronulla

If Hoppa wants Sundays off, no way, no signing. I don't care if he plays for $100 per week, it's too disruptive to be pulling players out of the structure just depending on the day of the week. Injuries already show how bad it can become when you shift people out of their standard role / change the lineup.

He'd be alright depending on who else we sign. If we were to sign Fonua I wouldn't be interested in Taufua - too similar and really both should be playing first grade rather than be signed as depth. If we were to sign either of those we'd be closing down the positions where we could actually play a goal kicker too…

A work colleague, he is heavily involved with the Rorters, knows George Mimis and attends a lot of Rorters functions. His Rorters info is usually spot on.

Told me Tedesco signed with them around April 3, haven’t spoken to him in just over a week so the info is more than a week old.
