Royce Hunt? Gunna need to play more minutes to be the forward leader they desperately need

Turns 29 next month …so not a spring chicken although hasn’t played a lot of games so maybe he might have a few years left

Why's everyone talking about Hunt?
It's taken almost a decade for anyone to even know he existed.

Hamlen Uele is where we should be focused....
he's on decent coin, and I think he's the one that will need to make room for AFB.

They have Rudolf, Oregon and Big Tommy lower tier money middles to even out AFB's monster deal....
I'd bet BHU will be the one that makes way....

BHU for me please

Just for the last little while....

- Bloke has a few good games and blokes here bang on about him like he grew up across the street and they been watching him since U7's
No but out of those middles likely available on the market, Hunt ticks a lot of boxes for us.

Yes BHU would be awesome but no mention anywhere of him becoming available plus he's contracted until '26.

Well it was reported a few weeks back that the Sharks gave Royce Hunt permission to talk to other clubs about a potential switch for 2025 even though he has a contract with them.
On that basis and if you could believe what is reported, it would appear he is the one the Sharks are happy to offload.

Why don’t we go in with a low ball offer for Jack Hetherington
I know he has brain explosions but is getting older (growing up)
and has got plenty of speed and aggression to make a very good edge forward.
At least we could keep our sin bin record for 2025.
Agree we need intimidating forwards not ones that skip into the line to then turn your back.

We also need players to learn to pass quicker as it looks like a under 7's game with pass the parcel when we switch the ball and is so predictable and that is where we had the intercept last week by Ramien.

I hope that Richo has given Stef a timeline so we can decide what is our next steps are as like most on here agree he is not worth $900k. Potential is good but you need to earn it and he is not.

Losing interest as we just continue to dish up the same crap week in week out , year in year out.
I do hope Benji can turn it around but the game plans don't seem to be different with the same patterns and stagnant attack which ends in turnover and we get gassed in defence and the flood gates open.

I want to see a decent strength and conditioner for the team as we cannot dominate in tackles and all other teams look physically stronger. We cannot say we do not have the facilities as we have a state of the art centre of mediocrity and they need to get the correct people in to build their strength.

I wish I could just not care as it would be better for my health, however like all on this forum we are invested in them and want them to do well.

It took him 3 years to finally convince a decent player to sign, he got two! He must have been rubbing his hands together with delight and then chopped!!!
It also took 3 years for him to get enough cap space to sign a decent player. When he was chopped their was still funds available for further signings. Who knows who he could have attracted. I don't disagree with most of Tom's take on the situation except I think the circumstances beyond his control that influence his output matter.

Thought as much however. The sharks resigned him THIS year.
Good chance he starts alongside AFB.
I think Rudolph is the one who is surplus.
Hunt ain’t going till the following year anyway so it would be signing a 30 year old prop really.
I’d prefer to sniff around Leniu for longevity.

Assuming Stef is gone, I'm starting to hope he is at this point, I'd rather us go after more effort players than 30 minute impact forwards.

One our best this season has been Seyfarth, and it's not because he's more gifted than any other forwards in our top 30. If we can use Stef's money to find a couple of good experienced forwards known for their effort rather than Franklin Pele/Royce Hunt type of players we'll be better off IMO.

If we need impact, Jordan Miller with another off season can be this guy. Faagutu is another who can do it if he sorts out his defence.
Yep a guy like Tom Hazelton who just gets the job done

If I'm Royce Hunt and told by Benji that 'come here, we want you to lead our middles, on & off the field, instil the steel & aggression in the middle we need & take your game to the next level, we'll get your fitness up to play the first 20 mins & last 20 mins of matches', I'm fired up!

Royce is a beast, doesn't take a backward step, runs hard, scores off crash plays & hits hard. He's played in the RWC final for Samoa with Luai.

He's the victim of being one of many middles at the Sharks so his minutes do get limited but he has played 40+ mins in games/tests.

C'mon Shinesy, get on the Royce train toot toot
Sharks have a few forwards we should be looking at chasing, especially since they have AFB going there and don't need all of them. Bugger that Hamlin-Uele resigned, he's an underrated player. Hazelton is also good
