Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Just watched Jennings tries from 2018 and he fell over the line in pretty much all of them. This signing doesn't really add up for me as a specialist centre would have made more sense.

Maybe we are. I'll wait and see but is he better than Thompson or Nofo ? If he is better than those two how much of an upgrade is he on those two ? If you play him in the centres is he the best option there ?

It's a good signing if true because we are weak in the outside backs especially left centre and there will be injuries. I see this though as a squad building signing rather than someone like Mbye or Matterson who we bought and who fixed or should fix a problem position for us.

Robert Jennings is expected to clear out from Souths sooner rather than later with Wests Tigers his likely new home. That will clear the way for Cowboys forward Ethan Lowe to join the Bunnies.

After a few stellar seasons, his form dipped last year. He will join Souths for close to minimum wage. Lowe has chased the opportunity because he is not likely to crack it for a start at the Cowboys.

You can't barge over the line if there's nobody in front of you. Also you gotta be in the position to score etc. etc. He scored 19 tries in 21 games, 2nd overall in 2018 - very hard to criticise that, even if his team set them up for him.

Closest Tiger? Corey Thompson with 9 in 20 games. So Jennings scored more than double the number of tries than our top try scorer. Even accounting for "falling over the line", that's massively beyond the output of anyone we fielded in 2018.

Picking up a specialist centre is pointless at this time if we've already signed Momirovski. 8 months ago I would have agreed with you, with the only question being where the specialist centre would have come from.

Dont get me wrong, I am looking forward to Jennings potentially hopping on board. Momo (sorry Geo) was recruited to start in my opinion but if him or Marsters goes down our depth is going to be sorely tested in that position.

Jennings has size and safe hands so welcome if this is in fact true.

We need more points.

And people are whinging about signing a guy who score 20 tries last year.

Unbelievable.

Funny isnt it? People have Momers as a certain starter after only 2 first grade games but a taller, bigger guy with more experience and more tries under his belt shouldnt even be considered.
Looking forward to both of them pushing hard for a spot. Pushing the encumbered aswell.

I would have Jennings as a winger. Momo (hi Geo,) is a specialist centre and certainly better than anyone else outside of Marsters. It's just a matter of whether Not or Thompson misses out. Thompson is a safe fullback and scored the most tries last year so you think he may edge out Nofo?

Por que no los dos…

Yes, I reckon both will be there aswell. I dont discount Fonua either for a wing spot.

Fonua has hands like feet. He'd run it back a million miles an hour, but I don't know that my heart could endure Fonua standing underneath bombs week in week out.
