Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Actually,
You make a great point,
Every year he has coached the Roosters he has had a team that could win a premiership, and he didn't do it, how would he have been rated as a coach if it was West Tigers he coached,
He probably Would have been sacked 5 years or more ago,
And never heard of again.
I have a conspiracy theory with him similar to that of Brooks.

Ie. He is a Freemason and has links to the powers that be. Who the fark was the guy? He was coaching league in France then comes to coach the Roosters which is star studded. The guy just needs to turn up to training. My six year old could coach that team and win a comp. Has he ever had a terrible roster? Never.

Robinson is a massive sook. Whitehead went to apologise for the tackle and see how the cheese was and he carried on.
It is funny that he has no issues when JWH , Collin’s or Radley do the same thing.
Sport is funny when the favoured teams start to feel the pressure and you see it also in F1 where Verstappen was dominating the season he was cool calm and collected now McLaren and Ferrari have improved he is whinging like Trent has. I am all for sticking up for your players but injuries happen like Walkers ACL.

Hope the Wests Tigers win Friday and the Chooks go out in straight sets in the finals as I don’t see Trent as a great coach rather he has a great roster.
He is an absolute windbag and a bore. A complete sook.
JWH has the worst judiciary record in the comp since Hoppa yet he blows up when he has someone go down injured.
The Roosters are a blight on rugby league.

No we shouldn't try to use our wealthiest supporter who also happens to be one of the wealthiest people in the country. Run to a major sponsor of another club instead. Lol
Harry Triguboff has been the great white whale for this club for decades, always the supposed answer to any financial problems. In that time, Balmain has gone bust with its club falling into ruin, we’ve nearly been run out of Leichhardt half a dozen times because the place is falling down, we had to lean on the state government to get a training facility built and I don’t know how many players have left or not signed because there are sweeter deals on offer elsewhere. At what point will you twig that just maybe Harry isn’t actually that bothered, or at least not to the point that he’s going to separate himself from the thing he really cares about ie his beloved money?

Harry has said he would contribute to bringing players to WTs as long as there are Balmain members on the WTs' Board. He is a self-made man and interestingly was born in China following his parents fleeing from Russia. He should be an inspiration to all of us.

There used to be Balmain members on the board all the time and... silence. And Balmain ain't coming back, whatever vague hints a nonegenarian might make about supporting them. If he was that bothered about Balmain he could have helped them out when they needed it, but... silence. Face facts: he's not lifting a finger. That's his call - it's his money - but there's no point deluding yourself about it.

I'm interested in the Wests Tigers, not anyone's personal feelings about billionaires. He may or may not be a great guy - doesn't matter to me.

Actually, one thing Harry Triguboff has in common with the Balmain Tigers is that the Wests Tigers need to move on. There isn't anything either of them is going to do to help us now.

Harry has been a long-time club sponsor and a great supporter of Balmain. I love his work. I am grateful for any assistance he is willing to offer the club and I have read Meriton may return next year to WTs as major sponsor. I hope this happens.

You'll notice that none of the actual club benefactors in the NRL - Politis, Laundy etc - are actually club sponsors. Why? Because being so expressly rules them out from providing the kind of assistance that actually gives the club an advantage ie topping up player salaries. "Players can earn unlimited amounts from corporate sponsors who are not associated with the club and who do not use the game's intellectual property": https://www.nrl.com/operations/integrity/salary-cap/

Anyway, I hate to get political but this kind of bootlicking gratitude for the crumbs that may fall from a rich man's table always makes me feel faintly sick. Triguboff is not a benefactor to the Wests Tigers in any meaningful way, as can plainly be seen by, y'know, the state of the club over the past two decades. Meanwhile, if he was such a big supporter of Balmain he should have helped them not go bust, shouldn't he?

But you keep bowing and scraping and doffing your cap, see how that works out for you.

Are you sure about that? Laundy is the main jersey sponsor for Canterbury

Fair enough, I'll leave it up as a testament to not thinking that one through. I stand by my argument though: if Harry Triguboff was a "great supporter" of Balmain or Wests Tigers neither would be in the mess they are now.
You're discounting the fact that we are run by niff-nuffs at a board level. One look at their heads tells you they couldn't run anything that would be successful; let alone their record.

You don't get a chunk of Harry's money without him getting a level of control. Like Politis he is not an invest but watch from the sidelines kind of man.
Maybe we should give him a certain level of control

100% certain we would be in a better place of we did

You don't build his kind of wealth by chance

And if we can use Politis as an example than its a no brainer

Piastri got hosed by his own team on the weekend. Pretty much one of the dumbest pit calls I’ve ever seen .
Would they have made the same mistake for Norris ? Maybe ….
