You misunderstand the kind of support Harry T provides, or is permitted to provide.

For starters he gave Balmain and now Wests Tigers hundreds of thousands per year to keep them going. It's easy to scoff but back in the 90s that support kept Balmain afloat and won't be forgotten. He would personally pay Balmain players bonuses if they won matches. He was major sponsor several times when Balmain could not get a sponsor.

But Harry always said he didn't need the exposure/advertising, he was only doing it to support the club.

Some time ago I am told he was approached to buy out the club (Wests Tigers) in the very early days before private ownership had occurred at other clubs like Souths. He told the club he'd do it but only if he could run the club "his way" with the previoud powerbrokers surrendering power to him. And the Tigers declined.

Harry T is no fool and he's famously tight with his money - he doesn't just pour it down the drain. So whilst it's a great fantasy to imagine a filthy rich person like Harry T owning the club, don't be under any disillusions that he'd run it with an iron fist (maybe not always for our good) and that the actual owners of Wests Tigers have limited desire to surrender their power base.

Also by all reports his kids aren't much interested in league, which leaves you with a 92 year old benefactor with no clear path of succession.

And every year the CEO rocks up with an open hand and Harry T still ponies up significant funds, despite the decades of waste and mismanagement and failure.

I can't be criticising that.

Not too long ago, Richardson mentioned that in the off-season, clubs shake the trees and see what falls out.

It's the first week of September, finals haven't even started yet and so far, we've seen Royce Hunt, Kobe Hetherington, Corey Horsburgh, Daniel Saifiti, Jack Bird and now Adam Elliot all become available.

I've no doubt there will be more, decent names to fall out of the tree between now and February.

I hope we don't rush to spend the dollaridoos in the next fortnight...

I don't know why anyone is surprised - Tigers have done most of our best trading, for several seasons, in the period from Sep to Dec.

We made LUC !! He was our “star” during a run where we had none . I honestly think his brother coming to us , was a real deterrent. I think LUC best footy was with us .

No disrespect mate , but it’s really hard to follow . Even a full stop or comma would go a long way . Like the post I’m replying to ! Because a lot of what you say is worth reading. It’s just hard to understand at times .

I know it’s all attitude , and desire , preparation etc. But that was almost over night , he went from being the best winger arguably in the nrl to not being able to get a run at Salford , and playing for Glebe .
Sure he’s not even anywhere near the league of Brian , but it’s not not relevant either …

We signed Luciano when he had a similar role to Royce Hunt (at Dragons). 20 min cameos.

We tried to make Luc an 80 min forward and he couldn’t hack the tackling.

As I’ve said to ya before I love a good red Merlot, but I’m not the greatest with words and letters, (I’m sick as with numbers though), and when you jumble up those letters on me like that it becomes a riddle for me to spend the next day or so working out.
