Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Unfortunately it's a players market unless you are one of the top 3 or 4 teams. We have to pay overs as we the basket case of the NRL ( 3 consecutive spoons ) proves that.
Yes but in this case overs is probably 575K per year, any more and you’re only digging a deeper hole.

Can’t exactly remember the podcast I heard it on but it was off this years numbers. If a prop like Stefano is judged to be worth over 700k then that just shows you where the money goes. The best 7s are the best year in year out whereas there’s numerous top props in the game

Bloody hell. Who here is good at their job, it pays decent, provides for their family but would prefer to be doing something else if not anything at all?
Doesn’t mean you don’t do your job professionally every time you turn up to the office.

Why are we expecting May to do any less?

Market will dictate that his signature has a 7 in front of it. 6 too little 8 too less.
He is worth more than Pole at the moment and we were talking about offering him Stef’s previous salary.

He has plenty more upside than Rudolph. Rudolph is a nuts and bolts prop and we have 3 of them in Klem, Twal, Seyfarth.
we don’t have many if not any props that have footwork at the line and ball play other than Matumua and he developing very slowly.

Curious on other posters opinion on how much we should be offering May?

I have no info on numbers being discussed but personally I’m not offering anything more than the 600-650k region.

Not to sure about the actual dollars, but I would be trying to implement some clauses surrounding his commitment to the game. Don't ask me how that could be done as it's unusual, but I would be attempting it. Ideally we would have an easy out if he loses interest.

I'd be going 4 years. $600k, $600, $650, $650. 2.5 mill has a nice ring to it.

Clause in there about Taylan. Nothing stupid but something like we will offer him a top 30 deal. No figure attached though.
I'd be frontloading the contract if possible. We supposedly have the money but not the roster spots at the moment. Spending bigger money now and less in the later parts of the contract could be the difference in retaining the likes of Galvin, TDS, Bula, Fainu bros in a couple of years when they come off contract.

I can see Richardson going as high as $700k for four years to ensure he gets it done.

these managers aren’t stupid, we offered Stefano $800k a year for five years. they’ll start the bidding there.

@yeahcaz Rudolf would bring experience & leadership to the young guys, good defensively & can play long minutes. If it’s the Rudolf of the last 2 months of the season, yes. He’s not the more aggressive style & upside of May.

PS. The reply button not working for me either.

I'd happily offer May something in the region of $600-700 I think he is almost on par with Stef as a player. On form he is comfortably worth more than Stef, but i do think Stef has more upside potential.
