I’m sure more teams other that the Dragon’s are interested in Lodge. Not sure what Benji & Richo think of him.
Can’t have too many loose cannons in the team. If we were looking to recruit one nutter. It would be May over Lodge for mine.
If we had unlimited spots rather that a Top 30. Lodge would be a bargain buy.

LODGE SET TO PLAY ON IN NRL AFTER REJECTING MANLY’S LOWBALL OFFER
Matt Lodge insists he will be playing in the NRL next season, despite rejecting a two-year extension from Manly worth $150,000 a season.
Code Sports reported Lodge rejected a two-year $300,000 extension offer from Manly because he refused to play on for that amount.
“They offered me a two-year deal,” Lodge told Code Sports.
“They wanted me to play that starting role with Taniela (Paseka), but it takes a toll on your body doing that.
“It was a lot to ask to do two years as a starting front-rower for minimum wage.
“I really thought about it, I wanted to meet them in the middle somewhere, but they had no salary cap space.
“I am fine with ‘Seibs’ and everyone at Manly, but I can’t play for that amount when that sort of money is given to a kid just coming out of a school who hasn’t played a game of NRL.
“I loved the club and the squad of players, but I have four boys and bills to pay, so I had to look after my future.”
The 29-year-old veteran of 121 games for the Tigers, Broncos, Warriors, Roosters and Manly is adamant he will not be moving to the Super League.
Lodge has been linked with a potential switch to the Dragons, who are desperate for middle forwards, and confirmed he will be playing on in the NRL in 2025.
“I will definitely be playing in the NRL next year,” he said.
“It’s good to know I will have my future sorted.
“I had a tough start to the year but when I got healthy, I finished the year well with Manly.
“If I didn’t know I had plenty left in the tank, I wouldn’t be playing on, but I’m excited about the years ahead and I will be ready to go next year.”

The Roosters quite obviously think Smith and May are the main instigators in the off field party boy approach that they seemingly want to get away from.
It was never a problem when the likes of Fittler etc played for them, but for some reason it is now, shows what a low contradictory club they are.
As long as a players off field antics are not effecting their level of fitness or on field performance, than what is the problem ?
Gus would only micro manage players such as May, he will be aware of that and will not consider the Bulldogs as an option because of it.
Wests Tigers are also obviously wanting to drive a much better culture to ensure our layers are dedicated and fit, that is great tk see, but you cannot treat players like school kids off the field and expect them to be happy and play their best.
A bit of give and take goes a long way and more often than not gets the best results, let’s hope Wests Tigers have this approach and become a more desirable club than others such as the Roosters and Bulldogs.

That video of them in the hotel room didn’t do them any favours. May walking off screen then coming back wiping his nose and sniffling was a rookie error.

Curious on other posters opinion on how much we should be offering May?
I have no info on numbers being discussed but personally I’m not offering anything more than the 600-650k region.

I think 650 is reasonable but I think we might have to offer between 700-800.
It’s a hard one. He has played probably less than 50games but has the potential to be an elite prop. It’s kind of very similar to the position Newcastle were in when they signed Kayln Ponga or Bulldogs when they poached Matt Burton.
He has one good full season and is probably on equal quality wise to Thompson on the market. If we keep Pole I think he can play that Thompson role long term with Hunt filling in in the meantime. We would be signing a wish version of Hass / AFB but at the same time we are the tigers and he has the potential to get on that level.
I think what’s important is not over playing him. Sure he is capable but last years top teams didn’t push their starting forwards much longer then 50mins. Adding May would be a plus but I wouldn’t be wanting him to over play his role in the team.
