Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Spartan I'm of the camp if Galvin wanted to stay he already would have upgraded. He would be getting a massive payrise this and next year. Other thing is are we sure he's going to stay a 5/8. If he's not nearly a million a year is a lot of coin for a backrower or lock. If he is our future 5/8 permanently in the clubs eyes, great go crazy to keep him, if not let's just get some game time into Latu, the sooner he builds combinations with Luai the better.
well said if he was re signing with us then he does it this year and takes a payrise
galvin is as good as gooooone
turdesco 2.0
only fortunate thing is we have latu as a backup

Daley was big and fast, used his pace, step, strength and had a great kicking game. He could play centre or 5/8 whereas Galvin's natural position will be in the forwards. Daley was yards quicker than Galvin and had the on field awareness to position his supports. One of our greats and making comparisons with him are not fare to Galvin.

Galvin will be more like the filter or anasta build playing that 13 role
Daley was never big enough to play in the forwards, was an ok centre ( in a great team and backline)and a very very good 6

I wouldn’t class Daley as big, would be similar size to Issah Tago.
Fitler is the better comparison, 6’1/2 close to 100kg in his playing days. Not sure about the step.
Anasta and John Sutton other ones.
Remembering that Anasta played lock and backrow at the roosters primarily, Sutton was a backrower in that 2014 Souths team.
Daley was 6 foot tall, for a 5/8 that is not a bad size.

To be fair, he was a Kangaroo and NSW SOO rep. He was a great player and I agree in a great team.

Yep that's the market value right there.

Ash Taylor was worth 1m because he got 1m.

Ofcourse that's not the true player value.

Penrith, Easts and Storm get players to stay for unders and perform. I am completely lost as to why they stay at Easts.
That's the interesting thing about player value: Newcastle think he's worth that, everyone else thinks they're mad...

But at the end of the day the value of anything is the amount someone will pay.

Why wouldn’t Galvin go to the market place come November?? If I was a player I would be doing the same, fielding all the offers than going back to the club I really want to play for and seeing how close they can get to the money being offered. It also gives my agent time to drum up a frenzy.

Anyway as others have said we have him till October 2026 on average coin, so we can still get plenty of football out of him and there s always another kid wanting a chance at the NRL
Why don’t we wave the November 1 date and let him take offers now. If he signs somewhere else gives us plenty of time for Latu to play more games

He won’t sign a contract without clauses. It’s the new in thing.
With Isaac Moses as his manager guaranteed it would be full of get out clauses, especially now it's come out Luai has them, so he will know the club are willing to do it if they want to.

Reminds me of the old mortgage brokers. They used to churn their books by refinancing to other banks each year or 2 so they could get a new commission.

The get out clause favours the manager that wants to churn their clients every few years for more commissions.

Player agent commissions are paid monthly over the length of the contract, the same as when the player gets paid. They are not paid up front.
The commission grows monthly if you can get a better deal.

Further, you don't know whether there is a contract signing fee/paperwork fee.

The agent is incentivised to have get out clauses to grow their commissions and fees one way or another.

Fittler and Daley had an X factor about them. They were big blokes who had explosive speed. They hit the line with power and had the ball skills to keep the play going after they had broken the line. They were also committed defenders.
He may end up as good as them one day…there’s certainly little indication currently that he will, but you never say never. I do believe he will have a lengthy first grade career.
It hasn’t been a great start though and for that reason I think it’s madness to reward him in such a way.
Agree with Tucker here,
No where near as dangerous in attack as Fittler & Daley were at the same age, both of these two were a lot bigger in the body and turned out to be superstars.
Players like these two don’t come around very often.
By Galvin not extending now could work both ways, because if he doesn’t have a good year his value might drop from what the $ figures being mentioned at the moment.
Richo has to balance the salary cap budget and I don’t know if having 2 halves on massive dollars leaves enough for other positions
Eg.
A gun Centre or 2nd Rower

So Parra gonna have $ 1 million to spend min for next year , and I think we have both Luai and Galvin able to take offers November 1 is this correct , And if so do we play hard ball with Galvin and request he resign asap or we bring in Latu now and drop Galvin , we can’t play a guy who wants to leave , Richo should allow offers now for Galvin

Who knows what's going to happen between now and then.

November 1 is off season.

Let's just get through this season and see where it all lands.
