Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sam Fainu has got me worried, I know it has only been one round of the comp so far but what he has shown in that game and the trials is concerning.

So far I have not seen any of the impact or potential that he displayed last season and it doesn't even look like that is him out there with that hair.

Hopefully he fires up real soon.
He’s got no pressure on him to hold his spot either.

For the club last year he had the:
  • The most tries
  • The most line break assists
  • The most meters ran
  • The most kick return meters (13th in the comp)
  • The most player in support runs (equal 9th in the comp)
  • The most kicks defused (equal 3rd in comp)
  • Second most tackle breaks
  • Third most line breaks
....plus he saved more than a few tries. This was all from 21 games.
He wasnt excellent, Id love to see more receipts, more passing, more try assists and less errors, but he earned his money IMO.
I still feel he is extremely raw. So much more upside.

Fantastic in possibilities.

Definitely no where near the finished product, yet makes us significantly better every time he walks on to the park.

Manly look like signing DCE for another year. Crazy how the game is evolving so much that halves are playing till their mid to late 30’s. DCE reminds me a lot of Cam Smith where he could play in a dinner suit. Makes it look so easy.
Allows Isaac Moses to push Galvin there in 27 for Siebold and the rest of his stable at Moses Warringah.

What are they trying? Sacking all the older blokes and hiring heaps of younger guys from other clubs? Cool if it works.
If it doesnt work out, itll be their arses. Thats how it goes but make no mistake, they need immediate results despite what you think.
If you look at the dynamics of ageing worker’s it will always be the older that question instead of just doing
I will say that mostly they aren’t wrong just rigid on how to do things

Api needs to extend in my opinion. He offers way too much and TDS is physically not ready yet.
Agreed. but move slowly to lock/16th.
"Jack Bird, Justin Olam, Kit Laulilii, Lachlan Galvin, Sione Fainu, Solomone Saukuru, Starford To'a, Tallyn Da Silva, Tony Sukkar, Jarome Luai, Jeral Skelton"
Skelton, Silva (or maybe Love), Kit and Bird I would prioritise.

Bird seriously gives us bench options. We often need that Oomph of a forward on the bench but someone who can cover a back if they break a bone or something.

Yes Galvin would be good to resign. Sukkar shows some promise and Sione Fainu may develop into something (happy to do min wage to keep the family happy).

Last time he was halfback for them they were awful, they eventually picked Humphreys over him at 7

He's a 6, always has been always will be.
We need a damn time machine so I can slap:
Tim Sheens, Ivan Cleary, Benji, Macguire in the face till they stop picking LB at 7.

It will never make sense. MM was the 7 in the lower grades....

Moving forward. Unsure if Luai is our 7. Luai is a damn fighter and I like him. But really unsure if he is our 7.

Poor Knights, it appears from a distance to be Tedesco Mk2.
If the player has every intention of leaving, get it sorted asap. Let your current club know asap, give them the courtesy of planning for the future. It never happens though cause the manager needs the current club to believe they're a chance of re-signing the player to create a false sense of value for the new club to try and begin a bidding war to jack up the players salary.
It totally sucks though. The player and manager both know there is no intention for them to stay but still string the current club along to manipulate the situation. It's what peed me off the most with Mitchell Moses, blind Freddy knew he was going, but the club gave him time because he didn't want to be rushed, so the club didn't push the issue cause they were scared they might lose him. In reality he was already out the door. Pull the contract tell the media so they report it, in an instant the disloyal sack of crap takes a 35 percent hit to his next deal because his new club doesn't have to bid against anyone. Stabbing people in the back works both ways, respect us we respect you. Stab us in the back, we make sure the knife's twisted in urs before our time togeather is done.

If it doesnt happen in the next couple of years, Benji for starters but probably Richardson as well will be moved on.
We ARE after instant results, thats why we have acted the way we have. We have a window for top 8 this year, top 8-4 next year and premiership tilt from 2027 - 29. Anything less is failure.
Yeah Tucker I agree, I believe that's Richos thinking, though I think Benji may think next year is more realistic of a top 8 birth, interesting off season coming if we're nowhere near the 8 Benjis gone, if we're 9 - 10 and competitive Richo has a tough decision based on who's available. He may say its not good enough and show Benji the door. Or he may think there's been enough improvement and considering the roster defficencies Benjis done a decent job. In a case where we just miss the finals it'll be a toss of the coin whether we have a new coach next year imo.

How about giving us some context. How do their salaries compare to their peers in the same position? How do their performances compare likewise?
You were criticising the club for letting go of Pap and Bateman. We were paying them at the rate they deserved when they were playing at their best (Pap at Parra, Bateman at Canberra) and we certainly weren't getting that sort of output from them, so they were overpaid and underperforming, not sure how anyone can argue otherwise. They also made it clear that they didn't want to be at the club so why would you hold onto them, surely their performances would get worse not to mention what it would do for the culture of the joint.

Good post, but we don't have a natural organising NRL level half to replace Luai?
Latu is naturally suited to the 5/8 from size, speed, swerve and deft passing style IMO.
Reshuffle-----Latu 5/8, Galvin to centres? IMO it could work!
Not sure if the Galvin rumours have traction; but if they do as only Benji/Richo would know, it would be time to plan for "life without Galvin".
Early days, but everyone is watching.
Keyboards on the ready. The Negative Nellies can't wait to bag someone if we lose to Parra.
