Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

They’re different styles of players but I think TDS is significantly ahead of Haywood.

I wouldn’t fall into the trap of letting TDS go because we have Haywood if we have a choice.
I’m not so sure about that.
I’ve followed Da Silva’s career since his Harold Matthews days, so I’m as happy as anyone that he’s progressed to the player he is now, but my question is what is his current t value and what will he be worth from 2027 onwards ?
He is tough, very fit and very quick off the mark, but he has never really had deception in his passing game and although his defence is improving, he is still a lightweight in the middle and doesn’t exactly whack the opposing ball runners when he is defending.
I couldn’t pay him a more than 400k maximum at the moment and I think its likely he’s looking for a lot more than that.
As for Haywood, he is 2 years younger than Da Silva and looks taller and bigger. Haywood has a bit of deception on his passing game g game and a more confident kicker of the ball in general play.
Similar to Da Silva he is not known as someone who whacks in defence, but being a bigger body I’d say he could end up being a stronger and better defender.

Tds is very good developing player and i will high light the developing part. Haywood i believe was a 5/8 before he moved into been a hooker?? Both of these players need time to develop and mature their respective games, there strength will develop as they get older, both are currently under weight which does not help sting in defense. Tallyn dad is not much bigger in height then his son, but he was a tough tackling s.o.b. and Tallyn is cut from the same cloth.

He's still young and learning off Api he needs to be patient and bide his time, the minutes he plays doesn't justify big money you need to be an 80-minute player to earn that.
Is he ready for playing bigger minutes only Benji can make that call, I doubt he's ready yet.
If he's impatient and is unhappy waiting well he can follow wonder boy over to the slimy eel pond.

He does remind me a bit of Jacob Liddle. Maybe a little bit stronger.

Da Silva is 5 months older than Haywood and has stood out in Flegg and NSW Cup for the last year whenever he played there. I don’t think Haywood has played NSW Cup yet.

Haywood may well make it as a first grader but as it stands now he’s a fair way behind TDS.

Yes but I’m talking about value for money.
I’m purely speculating and think Talyn would likely stay with us if we can match other offers, but what is his value at the moment ?
Even if we decide to keep Api after 2026, his contract value would be reduced due to his age.
If we were to extend Talyn for 2027 and beyond, would you go any higher than 400k per season ? I couldn’t justify going higher just yet.

Can I ask, what skills is Benji meant to be coaching here?

Because I think it's an important ask. I get halves are difficult and hard to train, but the one person who should be the best in the league at training deceptive passes is Benji Marshall!

If the choice is between TDS and Api... Api is so much of our team and damnit I want to see our team do something different. Kick TDS (if we have too) and lets see this Haywood take the field.

Tds will follow Galvin to Parra. Club has a massive opinion of Haywood.
what do we do then if Haywood gets to TD's level and we lose him?
are we then going to keep trying to bring younger guys up only to lose them?
there has to come a point where you keep TD's , in this instance, and build around him
and the other youngsters in the team now.
