Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The ones where they go back 4 tackles are the worst. That’s messing with the integrity of the game giving teams a do over. The whole thing is very amateur.
If it’s not in the play of the game , then it’s not worthy of a sin bin . On report at worst . It’s obviously not that bad of a foul if no one SAW IT IN REAL TIME FFS!
The refs are ruining this sport . They’re absolutely a blight on the game .

Is Haywood as good as TDS at the same age?

And Jekope, when ya say middle, ya mean prop, or is it not clear yet?
Haywood is 18 months younger and doesn’t turn 19 until end of the year. He is as talented as TDS was at same age IMO, just a different style. Has great vision, exceptional long passing game and good long & short kicker. Defence is pretty good front on but can be found out laterally at times but that’ll come. He’s equally adept in the halves.

Sovau has played prop in recent times but has the ball skills for lock. Jeez I hope he is still with us.

The Fonua Pole sin bin is an example
Ref pauses the game
Stops momentum
Game is becoming soft
The biggest issue is , what is the actual point ? You’re just affecting outcomes of matches , but not changing anything , and when they’re soft like that , undermining your whole position ie. every high tackle is bad !
It’s like the people who’ve decided this are people whove never experienced a shot to the head , so they have zero grasp on the actual HIA/CTE that is being inflicted.
From my understanding with CTE the tackle where you get chopped in half after getting up a head of steam is far more likely to cause to Brain trauma , as it’s your brain rattles around due to the sudden jolt of stopping in the spot , like a car crash .
Like if lawyers are truely involved the game is doomed . Might as well pack it up now . Because unless it’s a tackle around the boots , every single nrl tackle will be causing some form of trauma . It’s a joke .

Exactly mate.over zealous bunker officials scrutinising every tackle instead of just focusing on getting calls right when they should.

the NRL needs to go to court and get some binding agreement that players understand the consequences, get paid well whilst doing so and they understand the dangers.50 year caveat . Your 1st n 3rd sentence is more of a present day blight on the game if its not policed uniformly across the game team v team , 1 half to the 2nd , set by set ,. That year Ivan was here and the league had a blitz on rules ,which imo the many commentators begged 4 , just as it was all coming to fruition the commentators (90%) bleated its stifling the game because most of the factions they were aligned to started losing because they wouldn't buckle .to something they were well versed in ,(think melbournes dirty tactics ). A lot of die hard league supporters walked away that year, Nobody talks about the results anymore , they just groan when asked and 3rd sentence is a negative .

It should be no different to the defence force . Where as if you do sustain an injury whilst playing /serving , that injury is covered for life by the nrl / Aus government .
Lifetime mental health services for you and your grandchildren , and and all but fully binding agreement that you have signed your life away in this pursuit , and as such understand the consequences both to you , and those around you .
And unlike the defence force , these players are paid accordingly mostly .
It couldn’t be anymore apt of a direct comparison , as it’s usually sub 30 men and women doing dumb shit , to make a life for themselves . Not many get past thier mid 30s .
I get the lawyer stuff , and the “woke, outrage machine “ who’d rather watch people dancing in the fields in acid then combat sports , that drive a lot of this rhetoric and thought , but at some point much like a 17 year old can sign your life away to go shoot at different coloured men in the middle of nowhere on the other side of the world , so can a 20 year old with endless help , both within the systems that they progress in, but externally with managers and others around them .
I get the nrl is worried about the nfl , but the nfl denied and hid the data for years , it’s a complete breakdown of duty of care .
As soon as the nrl knew the data was real , they put systems in place to protect the players .
Like I said ; there’s literally nothing more the nrl can do outside of turning it into touch footy . And that sport already exists . And there’s a reason it’s not a professional sport . Because it’s fun to play but boring AF as a spectator sport .

In my opinion this moderate force terminology is the problem. It denies that there is incidental contact in rugby league which is generally forceful because it’s a tough sport. Incidental should be a penalty only.

They need to make the wording for sending a player off the field reckless and/or careless. You will still get arguments, but at least those words mean something.
