Uncle BF played and Poppy BF coach one of their jr sides through an undefeated season at Berala, different sides of the family, and we all lived around the corner from Lidcombe oval and the pool.

The Warriors have apparently recently signed Morgan Gannon for 2026 and beyond.
He is an up and coming young, mobile and aggressive edge back rower in the Matty Nicholson mould.
The Warriors don’t even need more edge back rowers, how do we keep missing out on these opportunities?
I’d like to bet The Warriors will not be wanting to offload any of their own young up and coming back rowers, so it might mean an early release is in the cards for Kurt Capewell ?
I know it’s not ideal looking at or potentially signing forwards on the wrong side of 30, but Kurt Capewell has always kept himself looking very fit and he still looks to be quicker than most other NRL edge back rowers.
If he become available I think he would be a good fit for season 2026 and 2027 while we wait for someone else to develop internally.

There’s already a Matty Nicholson mould? He’s played like 5 NRL games.

I hope Api stays. This culture we are building is less than a season old. We need him for the next 2-3 years to finish the job and bring the next crop through with the rest of the Penrith crew.

You are right on the culture building side of the house. We need to focus on developing a Wests Tigers that kids want to be part of. While I think Api has built the foundation the biggest change has been driven by Luai. This is also evident in the change of Api in his role on the paddock. With Luai directing play Api is much more animated in an around the ruck with hand signals and his voice and you can see chatter between him and Luai as they approach the ruck.

I know Luai's numbers are down on what he produced at the Riff but in a different role he is really making his mark. His influence on the culture at the club can't be underestimated and I think he is more important to keep than Api - although in my perfect world we would find a way to keep them both and TDS.

Richardson and Marshall have made the correct decisions with Luai, Turuva, May, Hunt and Bird. Kepaoa has been exposed to the Panthers' development system and we have a few players who would be able to inform the decision to recruit him.

I’ve mentioned elsewhere that Hayward has some experience at half and accordingly would make a good 14.
I would like to keep Api and down the track, I think he would make an excellent Assistant Coach.

I reckon that’s his future as well . The club loves the guy, and tends to look after “their” guys . Like Lawrence , Skando , Benji , even Robbie except I think he wanted an exec role with us , and had that pathway until Richo turned up .

We gave him like 5 years and couldn’t work out if he was a back or a forward. Pretty sure he won something like 8 games in 5 years. Strange one.

Really? I have him as Fataapes back up and a really high risk option if he has to defend on an edge as a back rower. Hopefully it’s to strengthen the Maggie’s.
