Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Taylan May...sure I can agree there.

Tyrone May for mine is likely. Covers 5/8 & lock- with Galvin leaving, coverage in the halves doesn't hurt. Then there's the family link. And the recent story of him being out of contract in the ESL.. the timing is right.

Last one? Tieg Wilton. Need a second rower. Sharks are pretty strong. Wilton is John Morris' nephew. He's got a year to run on his contract. I can definitely see how he not only fits a need, but his style fits the direction the club is going as well.
Sorry Lads, not happening, I spoke to one of his family members on Wednesday at work & they said “our previous offer to him was excellent and he still chose to stay at the Sharkies. Go Weststigers!

He won’t play in front of Turuva and I rate Skelton..

So he will be playing reggies.

The reported salary cap hit is 200-300k. For that price who cares it’s about making the squad depth better.

If it pays off its huge, if it doesn’t depth wise is better than anything else we have

I dunno, Melbourne did alright.
Melbourne had the collapsed Mariners, and Reds to pick a team from. From these 2 teams came Ross, Kimmorley, Kearns and Howe who were already rep players in the super league comp as well as future reps Hill, Swain and Geyer.

EX-PANTHER EYES NRL RETURN

Taylan May has taken the first tentative steps towards a rugby league return after his management reached out to a handful of clubs to gauge their interest in the Samoan international.

May hasn’t been sighted in the NRL since parting ways with Penrith last year amid allegations of domestic violence.

However, the charges were dropped by police in March and the NRL deemed May was free to return to the game.

May put his NRL career on hold to undergo treatment at a private facility while seeking help for mental health issues but a potential return is now on the cards after his management made furtive inquiries with clubs.
That's weird - makes it sound like we've pulled out.

I had always thought we'd requested he gets himself sorted (hence the MH facility stay) before we offer the contract.

Would like him here if he's right in the head (unlikely), if not - still backing Richo here.

No guarantees he even reaches the level he was at before being thrown out of the game.

As much as I love Taylan May, the player, and would love to see him turn things around and become a success story. I just have very serious concerns about his mental health and really hope he gets the best treatment for him and his future regardless. That’s the most important thing.

I’ve got a bit of a background with working with people with mental health issues. After seeing some of his social media posts and a few things his brother said about him to James Graham regarding Terrell not even knowing which Taylan he would get day to day. I can’t shake the feeling there’s some sort of bipolar or schizophrenic behaviours occurring. I think it’s more than just a tough guy/tough upbringing persona.

This is just my opinion, but I’ve had dealings with people with these mental health conditions and they seem to look through you, not at you. Watching Taylan in videos I get that similar vibe. They have manic moments with all these grand ideas (eg. his “rap career” and big business ideas/buying and selling expensive jewellery, etc). It might come across like he likes living this gangster lifestyle. Even recently his photos in what looks like a new found religion. It all just all seems very erratic.

As I said, I could be completely wrong and would love to see him do well in whatever he does. I just hope he gets the help he needs. I’d just hate to see Terrell become implicated or have issues with the club if we have no choice but to sack his brother if there’s issues.

I also really hope that if we give him a shot, the family understands we’ll do everything we can to help him succeed, but we are a business and we have standards that have to be met.

Young is managed by Tartak. Tigers have many Tartak clients.

Could be a case of we have sealed KPP & Young being close with KPP we are having a look at him.

We have 20 on the books for next year. I would suggest Young has more upside than Faataape, Naden & Staines. For $250K it's not a bad buy.

Skelton is on $235K & Turuva about $350K. Luke Lualili also unsigned.

Simply we don't have huge outside back depth signed past this year.

At a guess Reynolds would be cheaper for them I’d expect
Yea, Reynolds would make sense... But Des has the relationship with DCE.

I can't see Des going all out for Reynolds. Although yea, it may be the consolidation prize.

DCE -> chooks, I can't see it. I also can't see him selling his house to move from Manly to Eastern Suburbs...

Des will make a big offer for DCE and likely get him. But yea, the failure option is Adam Reynolds...IMHO a pretty decent failure option at that.
