Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It would be after Brown and perhaps Young. With the introduction of new teams, what is "too high". Lock them up now to save in the future.

Prob $700k plus you would think? The new teams would definitely throw that at him …so I can’t see the Tigers paying less … look I’m not going to complain about it …they need NRL forwards and there doesn’t seem a lot available

Benji ‘very close’ to landing new Tigers recruit

Benji Marshall is set to bolster his forward pack for 2026, with Newcastle’s Kai Pearce-Paul reportedly on the verge of signing with the Wests Tigers.

That is according to the Daily Telegraph’s Brent Read, who reported on Thursday night that Pearce-Paul has been “locked into negotiations” with the Tigers for a “few weeks” and that the two parties are “very, very close to a deal”.

“It should be done in the next week or two. He’ll be at the Tigers next year,” Read added on Triple M.

There had been suggestions earlier in the year that Pearce-Paul could end up at the Tigers as part of a three-club player swap involving the Knights and Eels, but Read said he doesn’t believe that will happen anymore.

“I think Kai will go at the end of the year,” Read said.

“Obviously that (the likelihood of the player swap) could change in the coming weeks.”

Pearce-Paul is off-contract at the end of the 2025 season, with Read reporting the Tigers are set to sign him on a three-year deal after the asking price got “too high” for the Knights.

I noticed some click bait at the bottom of the article about Gal getting a tramp stamp of his fav school coach who’s now works at dogs.

Just wait until next year and we get him. Hold Galvin for a higher value trade.

That's what happens when you have 2 players taking up about $2.6M of a $12M (?) salary cap (Ponga, Brown).*

Such a dumb signing (Brown).

Btw, I'm hopeful they do get KPP. I think he'd be a great signing.

* Except for the Roosters...they are exempt from salary cap restrictions... 🤪

So you agree - $700k plus ? Hope he is worth it

The half from Canterbury would have been better for them if Gus has not locked him up by now

Yeh I do. And I hope he is worth it too!

He's only young and I think has a high ceiling.

KPP's defence has been questioned here, and that's fair. I think he is not far enough removed from the ESL which - granted I don't watch too often - looks to be hugely inferior to the NRL (particularly) as far as defence goes.

But I think that can be developed whereas natural athleticism and talent can't. Best examples for mine are Chris Lawrence and Brooks who both became very solid defenders after being pretty terrible early on. And KPP is still early in his NRL career.

You can’t say you like the guy , without people coming after you . He’s either shit or he’s not. You have to pick a side …. Apparently …
Some people need to pull their heads in. I agree he's not the best edge in the world but he's the best option we've got and gives 110%. What more can you ask from the bloke?
I don't know what Benji is supposed to do...... name Olokuatu and hope he turns up on game day in a WT jumper?

Seyfarth is not “shit” … he is someone I don’t want to be in the club’s best 17 and perhaps he should only get selected 8-10 times a year for the NRL side through injury/origin replacement… so this will require the addition of a couple more NRL level forwards
