Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I listened to Ready live on Triple M this morning, he stated he believes re-signing Korisau past 2026 would mean we lose Da Silva and thinks it could be as early as next year.
As Da Silva is currently contracted with us until the end of 2026, he is obviously assuming a possibly early release for him also.
We lose either way, but I think it’s in our best interests not to lose another promising local junior from the Campbelltown region, therefore if Da Silva is prepared to commit to us long term on a fair and reasonable contract deal with the promise of him become our starting number 9 from 2027 onwards form permitting, I think he should be our priority in that scenario.
I agree with keeping TDS for our long time future but no one gets a promise of being our starting no:9

Some players are more valuable as a bench player coming on fresh after 20 minutes then starting the game.

Ivan on plenty of occasions used a more defensive style hooker for the first 20 before putting API on in big games when at the Panthers.

If they are actually negotiating with players than there is another possible source to talk to the media …. I don’t get why people don’t seem to understand this ..

Isn’t there another young hooker supposedly coming through the ranks ? This is the problem ..they are always looking ahead to the next guy …never worried enough about the present …it would be tragic to lose TDS now he is finally NRL ready but it has seemed they have been headed down this path since the Galvin thing blew up …
I reckon Read is just making up the potential TDS release bullsh*t. Any 19/20yo player coming through is happy to do an apprenticeship behind a better player (and club captain mind you) provided he's on a development pathway.

Look at Peter Mamouzelous at the Rabbits, now 24, behind Damien Cook for all those seasons. he stayed true to the club.

I'm sure a lot is happening in the background and Richo trying to get his ducks in a row re player retention & recruitment.

Is this how he is playing it?

Priority 1 - Currently should be in negotiations with Api, Bula, To'a & Skelton, all off contract Nov 1 (mututal options for Bula in '27). The latter 3 will give us an idea on our outside back recruitment requirements moving forward.
Priority 1 - Endeavouring to recruit a backrower for 2026.
Priority 2 - Straight into TDS once Api is finalised.
ONGOING - Constantly in talks with Latu about his development path & requirements, so he feels reassured he's a priority.
ONGOING - Sort Galvin shit out.
ONGOING - Discussions with Taylan May about an appropriate contract moving forward.

I wonder if a transfer fee is just financial, or would a fee involve a player swap? If financial, how does that work with the cap? Galvin isn't on much anyway but I suppose it could be used to pay for a player from another club to come across immediately

In receiving a fee they’re referring to either money or a player but I’m guessing a player. If it’s money received it doesn’t go to the cap at all just the club so it doesn’t affect the roster.

Laurie has a solid 20th century mindset.

Ignore white hot form players, drag in the matey bogans.

And thats before our " marquee " blokes are summoned.

All bets are off for Laurie. Hes well liked and Im happy for him.

Soo has been a circus since they cleaned it up. Exhibition match.

Enjoy the ride folks, popcorn, pluto pups ( for our wests side) and lentil soufle and watercress wafers ( for our balmain side)

Bennet should be coaching NSW.

Add to the drama.

Today Parra has extended Sam Tuivaita, Will Penisini, Toni Mataele & Ronald Volkman & Warriors have extended backrowers Jacab Laban & Leka Halasima.
Rival clubs looking to lock up their emerging talent with the inclusion of 2 extra clubs from 2027.
It would be nice to hear about some extensions of our own as you have alluded to BlackWhiteGold.
We also desperately need some good news on player recruitment sooner than later.

Perhaps Lachies sense of entitlement and world revolves around me has infected TDS
If it has he can ps off as well , he hasn’t made it yet so we just go buy a hooker 😁
Tend to agree here look at his age why can't he be patient and bide his time if he's unsettled, no other team would let Api go in his recent form to please a young player coming through.
He needs to prove he can stand up to longer minutes in 1st grade which if patient he will get going forward, at the moment he's just shown glimpses of a good hooker in short stints.

Let's face it if he went to another club would he move into that team as a big minute's hooker straight up no he would have to build up to it over time, might as well stay here.

If we let TDS go to resign api at 34 we seriously have rocks in our head, his defence is getting considerably worse every year and he can’t regularly play 80 mins anymore. We should’ve be letting Galvin go without a player either
TDS is not even close to the ability of API and can't play 80 minutes.

Nothing wrong with having both for a few more years. Api has plenty to give.

Yes, i agree thats the best of all options and we will try hard to achieve this.

It will depend on cap etc. Plenty of clubs would like TDS.

TDS is close to Galvo it seems but weve given TDS a golden run into grade, solid development and treated him well.

Imagine having Api as a mentor?

Brent Rwad on Triple M just stated Api’s manager is wanting confirmation if we are re-signing him past 2026 and says he believes we will offer him an extra 2-3 years and says that will likely mean we lose Da Silva, possibly an early release at the end of this year.
Api will be 33 while in the final year of his current contract in 2026, so if we extend him it means we are re-signing him as a 34-36 year old
Ready also thinks we will release Galvin before June 30 this season and does not think we will receive another player in return.
He also mentioned Adam Reynolds clearly wants to remain in Brisbane, that along with his recent dip in form meaning there is not much interest in him from Wests Tigers.
All this being said and done, do we think re-signing Api and losing Da Silva is the right decision? I know Api was great for us again last Sunday, but it’s not his attack that is the problem, he is a target for opposing teams defensively due to his lack of size and that will not get any easier as he gets older. As much as Api has been great for us, I would be prioritising Da Silva and letting an ageing Api sign with the Perth Bears.
Super dumb question... What if:
We let Da Silva go,
Let Galvin go...

Be a third club to go for DCE? He wants to stay in Sydney and we would be a non-easts option. Yes this would mean serious cap space. It would be a huge signing and a massive stretch, but would add a stack of professionalism to this club.
