Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You don't need to tell me anything?
I like how you find the bottom of the barrel wage rate you can like he's going to get a job in Subway or something.
By your own logic, He could also go play Japanese Rugby for another 3 years for much more money than he'll make in the NRL - At the Tigers. Or a stint in France with his family for a couple years....
All far more appealing than the Tigers in Sydney would be at the moment (Probably even the Subway gig)

You may see Allure - I see ridiculous speculation and mostly fantasy - at best.

Might, in fact - Like Carpentry as well (And hate Pre-seasons)

Yes. It was a proof of concept you pumpkin.

As in, if it would present some allure still at a modest rate, then it follows that a fatter contract north of that would improve said allure.

Are you simple?

'You may see Allure - I see ridiculous speculation and mostly fantasy - at best.'

My point is that it is not inconceivable. Which it, objectively, is not.

Felise Kaufusi (as an example only), and other player of his ilk, given that stage in their career, may find it attractive to continue their career over jump into retirement. Regardless of the side, their location or other factors.

But, imagine someone 'speculating' about possible signings in a signings and suggestions thread.

"The DV charge was only withdrawn because the prosecution witnesses didn’t come to court. It wasn’t withdrawn because the Police thought they didn’t have a case. They just couldn’t prove it."

It wouldn't be the first time that either party had to face the fact of providing the evidence under oath and under cross-examination - it's sort of confronting when you see the sentences for perjury.

Incase you aren’t aware, there are two of us. @batboy and I arguing the same point. So hardly contrarian.
Your points are tangential, and that is not a counter-argument, it's a red herring.

You have a well-established pattern of being a contrarian poster, as is your right. You do not need to be isolated to be so.

Try and keep up.

It’s hilarious how butthurt a lot of you are over this.
I never once saw this narrative from you or anyone else about this kid last year, he was the second coming of Fittler and could do no wrong.
Our recruitment is getting better but it’s still in deficit. We’ve lost more than we gained and of those we gained….
Luai - No where near earning his salary. Lost his Origin jersey for good reason.
May - excellent.
Turuva - really good, bordering on great at times.
Bird - average.
Hunt - lazy and ineffective
Skelton - good but missed twice as many games as he has played.
By my count we’ve had two really good wins in recruitment, and another 2 who could be great - one has to pull his finger out and the other needs to get healthy.
I’ll withhold judgement entirely until the season concludes but the hive mind opinion on here that our recruitment is kicking huge goals doesn’t hold much weight currently.
nice work trying to pile on when you, like GNR, completely missed the point. for such a high-level, pragmatic, conscientious businessman like you seem to tell everyone you are, you sure as hell know how to stir the pot when it's completely unnecessary.

Lachlan Galvin is a great player and I've never questioned his ability. feel free to go back and read my posts if you want. he'll do well, wherever he goes. the only 'narrative' that's been created is the one you've just tried to manufacture.

I'm disappointed with the fact that he's left the club, of course I am. he's a wonderful footballer. but we move on. it's time you did too.

I’m not sure what happened at Westfields but Galvin played in the back row for one year in junior reps (Matt’s Cup). At that time, Latu Fainu was at Manly 🤷‍♂️
Your spot on, it was in schoolboys. But I cant get a team list from westfields sports high to confirm it. But pretty sure Latu was in the halves when Galvin was in the backrow. I could be wrong though.

That’s encouraging to have 3 out of the whole comp here.
We can’t stuff up their development.
Bring them in slowly and make sure they’re ready to go.
Congrats boys, hope you all make it.

A contrarian would come into a thread like the Galvin thread and completely blow it up by defending him, saying he’s better off without the club. Yada yada yada. If you can find an instance where I have done that, go for it. That would be an example of saying something for the sake of it. There’s no opinion I give that I can’t justify or rationalise. I just take emotion out of the equation most of the time, which a lot of others don’t do at times. And because they can’t, they immediately think anything slightly left of status quo means you are against them or trying to rile them up. Forums like this are for die hards, so it’s no surprise they just accuse you of trying to get a reaction when you look at things from a different perspective.

Kaufusi for a season would be akin to Frizell. I'd take it. Still an effective player, although not as happy with him in the front row.

Gives us an edge in defence we don't have. Add KPP on the other side. Play big Sam in the middle.

That forward pack starts to look a little snarly.

Getting players on long term contracts sounds good- but we have that Godinet kid coming through, Broederlow, Sukkar- there HAS to be a path to 1st grade for these guys or you run the risk of losing them to other opportunities. So Kaufusi for a year or 2 might be a great bridge option. Maybe Frizell to play #13 as well?
I'm not against Frizell as a player (though again not sure he has much left) but I am against him as a leader/mentor. He is known as a guy who does everything right but is quiet as mouse and not suited to a mentor role.

I moved on weeks ago.
I do however enjoy laughing at you people who are so upset about a kid doing what he sees best for himself and wishing him the worst, calling his family every name under the sun and making up lies about him on your boring POS podcasts….you are a young bloke. Get a life FFS.

you’re a miserable middle aged man openly dickriding a footballer who destabilised the very club you supposedly support. petty personal insults to try and pump up your fragile little ego won’t work here.

How do you know who they were pursued by? The only one Id say for sure would be Luai. The rest is just conjecture. Given how May seems to have been blackballed for Origin, whose to say other clubs didn’t take the same stance. Hunt definitely wasn’t pursued. He was retiring.
Luai was pursued by multiple clubs most notably us and the Dogs

Turuva had us and the dragons after him

May had us and the dogs after him

Makasini resigned when majority of the comp and rugby union wanted him
