Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Mate you can't just add extra clauses that hold the guy to a different behavioural standard than everyone else because you want to "keep him on a tight leash". Whatever that means.

What clause do you want to include exactly? Perhaps expand on it a little?
Cheers.

Why do you think we couldn’t propose clauses?

I’ll think about the clauses I’ll add, but I have to go to work atm!

I think we would still be in the running for Taylan due to his brothers desire and i think hed be good for us.

But wed need tighter disciplinary clauses due to his record and be prepared to rely on them if he heads back to feral world.

Its not easy to get sacked at the panthers.

It must be months now since Richo met with Taylan and he remains unsigned … what is going to change now that will make him sign him ?

We need to remember right through the junior reps there was a reason Galvin was in the second row and not the halves. That reason is called Latu Fainu. Once that kid grows into his body and these niggling injuries stop. Galvin won't be a skid mark in the clubs history compared to him. We just need to be patient with him.
I’m not sure what happened at Westfields but Galvin played in the back row for one year in junior reps (Matt’s Cup). At that time, Latu Fainu was at Manly 🤷‍♂️

Before we even think about Taylan we need three quality forwards. 1 middle 1 back rower and 1 lock…than we look at the centre position
Yep, if we can match the opponent in the middle we have the backs to do the job most games, showed in the first 1/4 of the season. We have started loosing the middle and the LG saga hasn’t helped, but if he can start holding the middle again we can get the season back on track.

I'm not sure Kaufusi has another year of footy in him (and I hate his thuggery that he got away with his entire career at Melbourne) but he is one of the best edge defenders there is when it comes to reading a play and communicating with those outside him how they should react.
He could definitely teach our edges a few things about defence. I'd try to get him in the building in some capacity. Defensive consultant to work alongside both Morris and Marshall would be ideal but if it is as a player so be it.
Kaufusi for a season would be akin to Frizell. I'd take it. Still an effective player, although not as happy with him in the front row.

Gives us an edge in defence we don't have. Add KPP on the other side. Play big Sam in the middle.

That forward pack starts to look a little snarly.

Getting players on long term contracts sounds good- but we have that Godinet kid coming through, Broederlow, Sukkar- there HAS to be a path to 1st grade for these guys or you run the risk of losing them to other opportunities. So Kaufusi for a year or 2 might be a great bridge option. Maybe Frizell to play #13 as well?

16.3 in the event that the player is alleged to have committed a crime by NSW Police, the club may do all such things and acts it deems fit to address the problem including but not limited to levying fines, withholding payments, suspending the players engagement with any club related activity and the like.

Something like that.

He doesn’t have to agree.

I would get him here play him 50 minutes a game and have his experience around the young guys maybe even after 26 offer him a coaching role for 27

I think we need an old school hard head

Plus he had a good reputation at Melbourne for training hard

I must be missing the bit where he uproots his whole family and moves down to Sydney
(Where he's never lived) just for 1 years work
- At a bottom feeding club (For bugger all money too I assume)

What else is he going to do go Work at Coles packing shelves?

You offer him 500K and a chance to do what he loves

Bellamy's family lives in Queensland the whole time he has coached Melbourne alot of people work away from home

Veteran and Developed Player Allowance

Veteran and Developed Player Allowance for eligible players who were either developed by the club prior to becoming NRL players and/or have been a Top 30 player for at least 8 years at the club or have been a Top 30 player for at least 10 years across the game.

That's 300K

Wouldn't that be gone on Bird and Api already?

Did you just compare him to the games best coach at the games best club who's probably been on a million a year or better the whole time?

Reckon a few players would prefer to pack shelves at Coles - Than move to Sydney, To play for the Tigers.

Probably not the greatest example of this, but people have a tendency to be just a little bias with scenarios like this. Like why wouldn’t you come to/stay at this club for such and such reason. It was mentioned a few posts ago, but I’d like a list of players we make offers to that you don’t hear about that turn us down, I reckon it would be a lengthy list.

A section 10 order allows a court to find someone guilty of an alleged crime but not record a criminal record or conviction for the charge
And the DV charge was withdrawn. So he has nothing to answer for.
There would be heaps of guys playing 1st grade with actual criminal records and not just a poor reputation.
My understanding is:

If a court says he’s guilty, that’s still bad.

The DV charge was only withdrawn because the prosecution witnesses didn’t come to court. It wasn’t withdrawn because the Police thought they didn’t have a case. They just couldn’t prove it.

At least he went off for counselling etc, so he’s got some insights.

Yes, there are many crims in the game. Case by case basis for me.

Don't mistake this for support of signing Felise, but if you can't easily see the allure of continuing to play football, even on a modest contract of $2/300k for example, instead of retiring and returning to the regular workforce on $27.42 an hour carting barrows of concrete 8 hours a day, then I don't know what to tell you.

I would consider uprooting the family to the Siberian tundra for 12 months if it meant I could earn that kind of money playing football.

You have no idea what other ventures he has on the horizon outside of football. Something that doesn’t involve not only uprooting his family, and playing for a potential bottom 4 side, but also putting himself through a gruelling pre-season.
