Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yeah I agree when if we settle on 500-600 that works I reckon
That is if money is the driver for TDS. I'm not sure if they are trying to pressure the club into more money or favourable contract conditions for if Api is killing it and is extended. The agent opened the media door with his initial statement about TDS leaving if Api extends, which in my book is a grub tactic, but the rest of it seems to be the media making up stories to keep the headline going.

This should have been as simple as TDS and his manager having a chat to Richo about how to structure a contract that rewards TDS for his development but does not impede his progress if Api is extended. As I mentioned previously, there is a deal to be done, it just has to be structured right to provide support to both players and the club.

FFS Tallyn is still learning, he could be great by season 27 or he could be still sharing the role with Api. The ball is in his court based on performance, both his and Api's. We, as in the club, need to have options if Api starts to drop off or if Tallyn peaks short of expectations.

If the real driver for Tallyn is a guaranteed FG spot he needs to be looking elsewhere; however, there is no guarantees in this game. He could sign for another club in Nov only for them to have a coach sacked and change direction. Footy is a risk based game, and so are the contracts that go with it.

And that applies to the club as well, particularly when the RLPA forces them into making decisions 18 months in advance… the risk is not just about TDS, but also how a great player might decline as he approaches his mid 30s

Unfortunately, what's waaay more important than a good pathways system is a generous benefactor like Politis or Laundy. That way you can keep who you want.
Spot on, which is mind blowing to me cause with HBG and Meriton we should be the one club who would worry about anything except money. I'd love to know what Harry saw at the club that's made him distance himself a bit. I don't believe it's just Rozelle there must have been other things going on that he saw that he didn't like. HBG, if I financially back something I don't ask the bloke running it if he needs cash, I call him and say I'm giving you more cash to use. Like I don't understand, we've been just treading water for 10 years in the comp, havnt produced bugger all juniors. HBG directors ask Richo do you need more funds. Like it's not bloody obvious. Don't give the guy an option just tell the bloke here's the extra money your taking it. Richos got too much professional pride to accept the cash. Sometimes professional pride means swallowing your pride because it's what's best for your organisation.

There may be.

But Manase might still be better than anything available.

Maybe he won't. Maybe he has no interest in returning.

But maybe, given how little football his body has had to endure during his 20s, he returns to Cup somewhere and goes on with the quality he showed coming through.
While we’re on the Long Bay XIII - anyone heard any updates on the Tavui brothers (Masei & Eti). They got arrested 18 months ago for allegedly murdering a bloke and Ive heard nothing since 🤷‍♂️

It’s negotiations, so if the agent is asking for 600k you would assume the number they’re willing to settle on/take would actually be around the 550-500k mark.

Cap will be even more in 2027 and there will be an extra 12million in the league with the Bears around. 500-550k is a more than fair price given the market, cap and his progression into the starting role by then.
Certainly we could make a good offer but as we know clubs would be talking with his manager for deals from next year. Wording such as monitoring the situation extremely closing is an attempt to ramp up pressure. The it's him or me Da Siva v Koroisau cannot be put back in the box.

Kurtis Morin > Gold Coast. Confirmed for end of season.
Another local junior leaves the Kennel.
this is what is frustrating me the most, all the other clubs have announced extensions or signings etc and we’ve been silent. the other clubs have realised there’s more teams coming in so they need to secure the players they want to keep. we’ve just been crickets

Richo playing the long game ..and wants the members to be the first to know

Seeing there are no signings to talk about …let’s unpack this one a bit…

I think the history of Harry T’s previous generosity at the Wests Tigers might be a little over stated …

He was a jersey sponsor for a few years …. So he was buying an advertising service that promoted his company..

He has stated several times since that ended ( not recently though) that he was prepared to help the club ( presumably through third party deals …) but did he actually do so?
