Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don’t mind Seyfarths effort just think he is literally playing to his full ceiling every week which is quite low. He is zero threat with the ball, him and AD are similar in that regard and he missed 6 tackles last night.

He really needs to be rock solid in defence to justify his position on the team.
Who missed 6 tackles ? Ad or red

I hope Aaron Payne is directed to play Luke Laulilii at left centre today (at least for a half) and shift Naden to fullback. Laulilii has shown glimpses at SG Ball level of being a good centre and could be an option instead of AD after the bye.
100%

Ive been pretty bullish on Luke as a possible centre for quite some time.

He has all the attributes and if thats his best pathway to first grade, it's worth investigating early.

Kai Pearce Paul 24

Two perfect additions to our squad in terms of talent and youth. Both players already playing high quality footy and barely scraping the surface of what they could be.

Excellent acquisitions going into this team giving our spine of Bula, Latu, Luai and Api more talent to work with.

I know we’re not in the top 8 and have lost our last few lately - I still have really high hopes of what we can be to end this year but especially next year with our team cause we’ve shown really good signs for majority of the season. Especially now Galvin’s finally gone.

I still also think we’re just one solid forward signing away from being content with our squad making finals aspirations consistently.

Something to consider as well - people might overlook what this is going to do to his brother Terrell. We might see him take it another level now playing with his brother in the same team. Vice versa Taylan.

Vicious don't forget Makasini will be ready for next season I would think.
If we've got the likes of Skelton, Tito, Taylan and To'a in the backline, with Luke L, Staines, et Al as backup, a major benefit is not needing to rush a prospect like Heamasi.

The more time he gets to play in hhe pathways, the more complete he'll be when he steps up to a debut.

Taylan is going to need time for fitness. Long time out of the NRL, but makes it a bit easier playing alongside his ex-teammates.

Don't think it's a huge risk given it's train and trial...he's going to play the back end of the season in and out of NRL and the club can get some comfort around his behaviour.

Hopefully it's the wake up call a lot of kids that age need and he just knuckles down.

I don't believe in outcasting people if they step out of line but take steps to get better.

Good point, we are frequently just taking a one out hit up on our 4th tackle when we are in our attacking zone.
Surely something better can be planned,,even if it’s one of our edge back rowers cutting back in at speed of our fullback or 5/8 trying to take on some tired defenders in the middle.
Exactly. One thing I would like to see happen again is de Silva to return and a 1-2 punch where we use offloads and support play around the ruck. Bula and api going off May should be a major tactic

Got no mail....but I'm expecting David Fifita to be a huge announcement before June 30. Just a gut feeling. We have a butt load of money to spend and roster places to fill, a massive area of need and he obviously wants out of GC and they want him out. Richo said signings were coming and I'm thinking this one is just taking time to work out details. He hasn't been shy about making big moves in his first 18 months here........

I'm expecting some heartache for you...

We're not buying a million dollar Second Rower over the top of
Sam and now KPP.

Kristian Mapapalangi must be getting close.
We had that game yesterday, against the 4 time premiers with 4 SOO players on deck. They had no excuses.
We can be a finals team this year with a bit of luck and a few decisions going our way. AD, I like him but sometimes, he's just not there. I don't think LL is the answer just yet. Maps in, Pole back, we're getting close....

The patient and intellectual approach being taken by the club now will reap rewards. Let him see what Souths would offer him and stuck firm on a T&T. Good business.

Taylan May on the verge of joining Wests Tigers
By Michael Chammas
June 9, 2025 — 12.25pm

Taylan May is on the verge of resurrecting his NRL career at the Wests Tigers on a deal that could see him return to play in the coming weeks.

The former Penrith Panthers winger and centre, who has been searching for a new home since departing the reigning premiers last year, has opted for a train-and-trial opportunity with the Tigers — where his older brother Terrell is currently contracted.

May underwent a medical examination at the club on Monday and is expected to begin training with Benji Marshall’s side immediately if the club rubber stamps the deal. The club previously decided against pursuing May’s services but had a recent change of heart.

May, who was previously stood down by the NRL under the code’s no-fault stand-down policy, was in court in March after pleading not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of stalking or intimidation intending to cause fear of harm, and two counts of contravening an AVO.

Charges were withdrawn three months ago, opening the door for his return to the NRL. He has since spent time in a mental health facility as he tries to rebuild his life.

May turned down a similar train-and-trial offer from the Rabbitohs despite visiting the club’s Heffron Park facility a fortnight ago. South Sydney has been made aware of his decision.

While South Sydney had shown interest in adding depth to their outside backs, May ultimately chose to pursue an opportunity that offered both a family connection and a clearer pathway to a potential top-30 contract.

Sources familiar with the situation talking on the condition of anonymity as they were not permitted to discuss the deal said May was particularly drawn to the chance of linking up with Terrell at the Tigers, who have lost their past four games and are in desperate need of strike power out wide.

The 22-year-old also knocked back an offer from former Rabbitohs enforcer Sam Burgess to join Warrington in the English Super League despite the guarantee of a fulltime contract.

The Wolves had expressed strong interest in luring May abroad mid-season, but the Samoa international is believed to be determined to prove his worth in the NRL and stay close to friends and family.

If he impresses during his trial period, May could be available for selection as early as round 16 against Canberra with the Tigers enjoying this week off with the bye
"Sources familiar with the situation talking on the condition of anonymity as they were not permitted to discuss the deal".

Every time Chammas does this he loses credibility. Here he is accepting the word of a dishonest person who was not permitted to speak out but did so anyway. Either name and shame the sources Chammas or shut up and refuse to publish, don't lower yourself by dealing with grubs.
