What irks me is the discretion that allows a ref! They can choose when to penalise and to let go. Just penalise according to the rules! The players and coaches will adjust very quickly. Players make errors when under pressure which is normally the result of good play from the opposition.

100% We have seen it all year, the ebb and flow of the games it's all about momentum and the ref's have total control of it through the way they interpret the rules and how they apply them. Iv seen some allow 6 repeat sets on the try line and we had Luai sent after 3. The refereeing is a tough gig but atm they have way to much influence over how a game pans out. Not in terms of giving away penalties but by completely stopping any momentum a team might build.

Physical,
minimum stoppages,
Promoting the game for the Perth Bears.
I’m sure the Ref has been given his orders.

100% but why can't every game be treated the same, by doing that the N.R.L openly admit they are over reffing.

Don't mind Paul Kent don't love or hate him, he made a few mistakes and needs to keep off the grog, just like me. But I whole heartedly believe there is a subconcious bias against teams lower on the ladder as he suggests. Except for Ashley Klein he is biased and just duds us because he hates us.

Everything about SOO is about the underdogs (QLD) winning.

No idea but the way he refs us and some of the calls he's made in the past he must.

Ashley Klein did such a horrible job for Origin 2 2025.

The first half momentum can come down to him. So many 1 way calls... Then he rules the Kalyn Ponga knock on that went 2m back???
The refereeing was all over the place.

What irks me the most is why in a regular game we get 20 penalties a game and in origin it's 5. Why can't they just ref everything like its origin and kept the whistle in their pocket.

Klein tried to change that script tonight.

Well we did speculate that Klein would have some sort of impact, and he sure did. Played QLD right into the game in the first half with penalties and 6 agains, proving once again that an astute referee can manipulate certain aspects of the game.
