Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Pathways and junior recruitment with scouts on the ground at junior Koori Knockout Carnivals.
Heath & Wellbeing being at the forefront and proactive with all our emerging players, but is particularly required for young players who relocate to play with us including those of Indigenous descent.
I’ve seen recent reports stating we lack in these areas due to lack of funds, however I know we have a Health & Wellbeing Team and scouts at Junior Rep Carnivals and Koori Knockout Carnivals do not cost a lot once the connections have been made.
This all said and done it’s only been a recent change with Shannon Gallant and Bronson Harrison given promotions, so I’m assuming they will be across all these things to ensure we get our fair slice of the pie.
This is not a "program"

We have 1 scout to the Bulldogs 7. It's a resources thing, not an indigenous neglect thing.

Think so.
Izaac takes his game seriously though.
Good to see.

He has a brother floating around at Parra too.
Yes Jake Tago, only short but nuggety and runs the ball very hard.
It was not so long ago that Isaac Tago and Taylan May come into the Panthers team as 19 year olds and played extremely tough and physical from day 1.
Not many 19 year olds have that toughness and physical application.
If Heamasi Makasini can show that same toughness and physical application by age 19, then we will have another Israel Folau on our hands and I am talking about the young superstar version.

Saw in Taylans vlogs before he gave on that, how serious they take their prep.

Carnivore diets and a lot of extra training outside of the club.

Impressive really.
I like how Taylan has returned.
He looks focused.

But they are poly. Need to cull them to match Bulldogs ratio right?

Benji has name value, no doubt about that. But that will only get him so far if he’s clueless when it comes to the 80 mins week in week out. And like another question I have regularly posed. What’s the point of attracting all these players if the coach can’t do anything with them? Also, the appeal will soon wear off for players to want to continue to come here and sign for him if we aren’t getting results. He needs more to his arsenal than his reputation as a player.
Unfortunately although fans thst don't like any criticism of benji will be upset you do make some valued points. The problem is we need to win more games regardless of who is the coach and then we can be behind our coach. Our 2nd half of season performances have been very disappointing. Something has to change. I'd start by getting the right people around Benji. Not the current boys club.

Bednji himself has to want that...wil his ego allow him to admit he got it wrong forst time round with heigno, hodgo and J-mo...that is is fact if thats what the problem is

Im stuffed as to guessing what the problem is weve tried everything it seems bar privatisation

The first 10 or so weeks gave me optimism and a renewed enthusiasm even though we were only 5/5/or 6/6....But I saw an attitude shift that sees them in most games for 80 mins....somethin thats been lacking for sometime,

Not at all, the May brothers are 💯 genuine down to earth people and the type of players everyone likes as their team mates.
I assume Isaac Tago would be very similar and I’d have him as our right centre in a heartbeat, but he’s contracted to the Panthers for a few more years I believe.
Added to this argument I think we have made a mistake in signing Jock Madden when someone like Te Maire Martin could have been available at a similar price range.
In saying that Jock is not a bad player and is potentially good enough to play plenty of NRL for us over the next couple of years.
It doesn’t matter where the player is from what they look like if they are the best person for the job.
As I’ve said the comment about having a heavy Polynesian influence within our playing roster was brought up by someone else who got criticised for stating it.
There is no need for someone to get criticised for stating it as it’s a fact and probably one that cannot be helped at the moment as it just so happens to be the origins of a lot of the players who fit the playing description we need and are willing to sign with us.

Yeah but why bring it up and connect it to the spot on the ladder? You ain't fooling anyone.
