I think we look at players that go elsewhere and kick on and apply their recruitment strategy to ourselves.And u put strong defenders inside of them....roosters won a GF with a 7 that started the game with a busted shoulder and couldn't tackle. Not every player needs to be a rock in defence.
If you have a strong system, like Melbourne and the Roosters, then you can train the players to be better and defend their errors while they are on that journey.
Marika was in our system for 4 years and we didn't improve him in those areas.
Until we have that, those players will be a liability for us and they won't realise their potential at our club. It starts with funding.
