Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He would give us a long range attacking threat that we do not currently have.
Now that we have a classy left centre in Taylan May and another classy emerging centre in Makasini it would be great to have someone with the speed and class to turn the half chances they create into line breaks and tries from distance, not just when we are in the red zone.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be Khan-Pereira as other good attacking options in Sione Fainu and Sam Stonestreet are also currently available.
Skelton as right centre should also be an option rather than just considering him a winger only.
Let me ask you.

Skelton has the size and strength.

Khan-Pereira or Stonestreet have the speed.

Skelton can't score long range tries, but gets a lot of barge overs because he's big and strong + he gets the yardage.

Can Khan-Pereira get the same tries Skelton scores without the stregth and size?

Don't you win some and lose some whoever you choose?

No doubt, but when he was with us he was a liability.

Here are some of the comments people were making back when he was in the team.

A prime example why some players just need a change of clubs or better coaching to get their defence up to scratch.

Unless we have another bench utility who can play dummy half up our sleeve, I damn well hope we're talking to Havili who can cover hooker & be a powerful middle off the bench. This is 100% an area of need for us next season as Hope doesn't have the versatility & Haywood is at least 12-18 months away.
We re-signed Hope as backup hooker and Mason as a utility. So sadly we don't really have room to accommodate another. Mason is still a way off being a Watson type 14 though, Murray on a Dev deal might be another option. but we just don't have roster space for another, unless we move more players on

Correct and as I keep saying Skelton is not a bad player, but within the team we currently have we have a noticeable lack of strike from long distance, how is that a good thing ?
So that being the case doesn’t common sense tell us we need to do something to change it and that means sacrificing some players for others that give us what we are lacking.
At the end of the day you ideally need at least 3 spare outside backs that add competition and quality whenever required, much the same as it iis with the forwards, but that’s a whole other issue.

cup came dead last, last year & started this year 1/4. richo added external recruits bc he always says you need a strong cup team to have a strong FG side and they have turned that team around. they are at least a chance of finals which hasn’t happened in donkeys years. with the additions of jock & javon that team will be even more competitive

they sacked the flegg coaching staff in may and the team has improved off the back of that, with genuine talent that can’t crack into the cup squad and limited development deals on offer because other talented kids in our pathways have already snapped them up for next year. tino tavana is one of them

just looking at a ladder and saying our pathways are a mess isn’t a correct reflection of how the club is working to strengthen the squads
The fact is we started the season with sub standard rosters and staff in cup and flegg and it took mid season reshuffles to get us on track. Why didn't we prepare ourselves to win from week 1? Another example of the club being reactive rather than proactive in planning and management

That’s how I see it also.
I really like Hope as a back up player and his story is brilliant, but again did we think about the balance and variety within our squad before re-signing him ?

Also mate. Stop looking at these moments in time and thinking if they stayed with us the same result would have occured.

Jahrome Hughes was at Titans and Cowboys. Scrap heap stuff. He wasn't any good at all. The player ultimately got serious under a good structure and went on to play better.

Ok Vicious. If Khan-Pereira is so good. Why is he in reserve grade at the Titans who are coming last? Or are they comjng last because he is not in the team?

Hasler is not an idiot, so I'd like to hear your explanation.
I am sure you will get an explanation (even without asking for it), which I am sure we will have all heard before.

Thanks for replying mate, what has it come too these miserable gutless pricks won't even tell you to your face you've been nicked.
In the old days Hopper, bushrangers use to hide and steal from you from behind bushes, these days, these despicable scum park their SUV's with a camera in a hidden spot and bail you with a fine. Have noticed that around my area, one of these camera vans is constantly parked on the foot path, and in a very hard to see spot, you might ask yourself is this legal? or is he breaking the law to facilitate catching someone who might be breaking the law.
Got fined three years ago by one of these low life individuals while hiding his van obscured by several large RV vans up near Woy Woy, I was taking the grandkids on a fishing day excursion, was only doing 5k over the limit and not knowing what the speed limit was in this area as there were no signs to indicate. Was doing 65k, thought the speed limit was 70.
Wrote a letter, but no luck, just paid and excepted the fine.

It's an interesting one. To'a has a lot of friends at the club and is close to Benji from what I understand. Benji even elevated him to the leadership core this season.

I just think it's partly his agent at Wassermanns playing funny buggers about $$$ with Perth Bears a potential suitor come November 1. Not sure he would get a better deal anywehere else than what we (or Bears) can offer with his injury history.
Toa has done nothing to earn a pay rise or even an extension. We need to find better, we can't keep lamenting our lack of pace, X factor and poor defence am but then keep re-signing the same players with these issues

The Qld halfback went off in the first half with concussion if I remember correctly and he carried the entire playmaking and game control on his own in the second half to comeback and win
The halfback went off with 10 mins left in the game. And that's when Javon started to get involved more, he was very much in the background until then. But when it came to crunch time he did deliver so that's a good trait to have, just wanted to see him involved a lot more than he was.

No apology required I think another fine might be in the mail for 2 Sundays in a row at 9.30 pm est, really pissed off at the moment, had no idea the unit was set up didn't see any warning, first one was 58 in 50 zone.
They don't give you a warning, other than a generic 'mobile speed cameras used in this area' and then there's the large SUV parked on the side of the road with the boot open and a camera in it, and a sign on the side of the road after you drive past it informing your speed was recorded.

Who would you like to be assistants?

I would have liked to have seen Shane Sultana promoted as an assistant coach.
Imo he excelled with a mediocre Balmain S G Ball side to punch above their weight.
Was recognised by WT and replaced the Jersey Flegg coach mid season, and is the current coach. They have improved immensely. Players picked on form in their preferred positions and coached accordingly.
IMO he recognises emerging talent, where they best fit in a team, gives them a job to do and they respond [sounds like Bellamy?]
But he is leaving..............going back to a Souths Sydney School to teach them how to play.
A WT missed opportunity to get an under the radar, emerging, top coach IMO.

He left when Potter was coach. He was horrific under the high ball and made some curious defensive decisions, but if you remember, Sheens brought him in pretty raw. He was with us for 4 years and by that time, Potter had no faith.

They worked hard on him at Melbourne and then he buggered off to rugby when he was a more complete package.
There were a few whispers going on at the time that Koroibete was let go for some off field problem. Will not say what they were as they could be all fabricated. Anyway both him and the Fox would have been great wingers for us for a long time, but you could write a book on the quality we have let walk out the door

I'm sorry to hear about your mate Kelce, it's just frustration spewing out when you get a fine through the mail when you had no idea you were caught, it feels like a revenue grab to me, surely you have the right to pulled over and told you are over the speed limit you can live with that.

Anyhow whinge over.
That's not how speed cameras work, and they never have. If there's a person with a radar and not a camera then yes they have to catch you and pull you over to give you the ticket.

Yeah I get your point, Skelton doesn’t make that many, certainly doesn’t make up for defensive errors, poor ball handling, and he has no speed. Agree with others, would love to see Samuela in the front row. For all we know we our keyboards, Dessie may instruct afk- “ I want you first on kick chase, and if you get a sniff - pin ya ears back son. Defensively I thought he was better than Skelton and toa - but presently that is not hard.
What happened to Izaac Tu'itupou? Is he injured?
I thought he played better than Skelton on the day he played. Never gets a mention anymore?
Turuva one wing, Izaac the other. Just chase the bombs! Then you can rest.

I think he's doing both jobs, teaching and coaching us. You can manage that at lower grade level, but once you're an NRL assistant you are full time.
I'd keep him at flegg for another year, discuss his ambitions, and from there promote to NSW cup coach or NRL assistant.

Good work looking it all up, I was trying to find the info at times but couldn't find anything concrete. Imo if HBG and also by extension in the past Wests Campbelltown and Balmain Leagues thought that the amount they were providing was sufficient or still is, it's evident to me imo we will get nowhere in the current ownership structure. If we are that far behind the other clubs in terms of funding from HBG then it just shows me everyone involved in the club now and in the past we're just happy to have a team running around in first grade, while us fans crave success they just wanted to participate. That form of commitment won't lead to any sustained success long term unless there's a serious change in viewpoint from the owners, in that through pumping money into the Tigers it eventually in a decade provides success which brings in more members, sponsors 3rd party deals, corporate opportunities so the club can stand on its own to feet and maintain a competative and successfull future. If the owners are just happy to have a team in the comp we will never get anywhere. I'm no expert but think this points to a bigger picture issue of how the debenture structure at HBG isn't ideal. Imo if there were actual real corporate and business leaders running HBG I think we would be getting much more funding. It boggles my mind that not making finals for now 14 years noone in the HBG boardroom has thought maybe we need to be pumping more money into the Tigers.
Objectively speaking we have far more upside focusing on commercial opportunities than hanging out for leagues club handouts although it helps.

The brand does contribute to the money that goes through HBG and as a non-profit, they need to distribute that or grow their business which would delay any generous funding if it would ever come. I hope with the new club at Rozelle, they are putting funds aside to make that a success and start taking their obligation more seriously.

Anyone looking at the dismal state of our corporate revenue can see why Richo sees where the biggest opportunity for growth is in the revenue generated by the club. Wtf was Pascoe doing for 10 years is my question?

Anyway...all the home ground sugar hits we've been taking from Homebush and Commbank start to make sense when you see the numbers. With lots of money, you can do lots of things across the club and if we've been running the club on the smell of an oily rag for this long, you start to get a better sense of why people want out so often when there are better conditions on offer elsewhere and it's about time someone focused on making some positive changes there.
