Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Why would anyone want NAS. He doesn’t get fined when he’s charged, it’s always 3-4 weeks. There’s a difference between being aggressive and being a liability.
His size is a negative and works against him, always collects players high. What's the point of seeing him have 1 good game if he's gonna be suspended for 3-4 weeks every time he plays.

What are your thoughts on going after Moale @jrtiger ?
wouldn't hate it at all. looks comfortable in grade already as a 22 year old and was always touted as a rep-level talent. gives us proven first grade quality in an area we need and wouldn't cost the earth. that said, I reckon he'd likely be promised a starting role at Parramatta, which is something we probably couldn't offer. additionally the priority is the big enforcer type that will roll the ruck on play 1. I don't think he's that guy.

TLDR: we get him, great, if not, that's fine. he's not going to solve all of our problems in the middle.

Something is going on with him at the storm, he is surely copping plenty from Bellamy, could it be that he knows he is on the outer so overplays his hand and gets himself into trouble. There is a fine line between being the enforcer and getting suspended. He comes out and has a go in every game, so he is not mailing it in. Clutching at straws here, however maybe there would be less pressure on him at the Tigers and he could play with a little more control. Without the suspensions he is exactly what we need.

I'll just be happy to have a squad next year that doesn't allow Mason a chance to play in first grade. Maybe in time he will turn into a good utility, but I'm sorry atm he is nowhere near N.R.L first grade standard. He hasn't got a clue how to read the attacking team running at him, he hasn't got the ability atm to defensively contribute in our system and he is totally ineffective when trying to tackle the opposition. The Titans ran straight at him and he couldn't do anything to hold his ground. We lost that game as soon as Latu went off. Iv no doubt Mason tried his best, and I don't want to pan a young player, but he was dreadful replacing Latu. He can not see first grade again until he seriously develops. It's a sign of where our squads at atm. If we don't see him in first grade next year, I'll take it as our squad developing.
Finally someone else can see his zero contribution to the NRL side. Nothing personal, we just want the NRL side to win.
My wish is that Benji watches the replays of all his poor overall performances (or his assistant coaches/advisers give Benji some worthwhile advise) IE. spell it out clearly that he is NOT of NRL standard.
We need better bench player alternatives ASAP.

I agree. Heath is not first grade quality as yet, maybe in time he will be . Disappointed that Kit Lulai wasn't given another chance before end of season as his form in KOE was very good.

I would absolutely taking Nelson if he was an option.

Ridiculous size, ridiculous amount of tackle breaks per game, ridiculous amount of offloads, tackles at 90% & averages 100m a game off the bench.

Will he play 24 games a season? Probably not. But the impact on the field is something nobody in the club currently offers.

Plus- if we are get bullied....nobody bullies Nelson.
12 to 14 games, the rest of the season he will be suspended.

Dunno mate I'd give him a miss, from the Australian newspaper below.

STORM’S $860K LIABILITY

Big Nelson Asofa-Solomona has now been charged 26 times for foul play since joining Melbourne Storm.

You name it, he’s done it - dropping knees, raised elbows, lashing out with his feet, attacking opponents’ heads, punching, crushers, a cannonball tackle and shoulder charges.

The 29-year-old prop is under contract until the end of the 2028 season on big bucks - $860,000-a-year according to the latest NRL Rich 100 list.

This is far too much cash for a serial offender, who, with his latest suspension, will have served 10 games in the last 12 months, missing two straight grand finals.

You can understand if Storm officials now regard him as a liability.

Coach Craig Bellamy and Storm management will wait until the end of the season to make a decision on his future.

We expect the giant forward will be offered the opportunity to look elsewhere.

He’d be a handy heavyweight signing for a club like St George Illawarra if he can ever sort out his disciplinary issues.

Or there is the option to join the breakaway R360 rugby union competition.
Drive everyone mad, but that is literally the WHY to why I'd take him.

We are custard soft at times. Hell, I'd double down. NAS, Tui & Jack Hetherington.

When one or 2 get suspended, Seyfarth comes in.

The Tigers went from easy beats to somewhat competitive.

I'd like to take us to undesirable to play against.

NAS was penalised 12 times this season. .7 times per game. That's behind Nicho Hines, Reese Robson, Cam Munster, Gutho, Angus Creighton, J'maine Hopgood, Carrigan, Radley, Trent Loiero, Taukeiaho, Sam Hughes, Horsburgh, Jackson Ford....

Is he a repeat offender? Yes. But there's a whole lot of repeat offenders.

You don't sign him to huge dollars.
You don't sign him beyond 2 years.
You don't expect 24 starts out of him.

But if your bench offers Nas, Tui, Jack Hetherington, Pole, Hunt, Seyfarth & Geyer before you need to elevate the likes if Sukkar, Charlie Murray etc...you have depth.

Good depth.

Game changing depth.

Kobe Hetherington off to Manly…..thought we wanted him at one stage…..
I'd be surprised if we weren't still into him & Manly just offered more than we valued him at. He is Benji's type of middle, all-effort defence-first player with very good contact & fast for a middle. His speed & lateral movement is something we lack in the middle third.

Was a fan,but think hes become unplayable in NRL...just wont bend his back in tackles. And with his record its gonna get ugly.at the judiciary
Moale is 186cms and 112 kgs...perfect.
If hes not too pricey
He's pretty much bang on Pole size.

Won't signing him give you 3 body shapes roughly the same in Sione & Pole with Moale? It'll just eat into development time.

If we are adding to the middles, why get 5 cut outs of the same guy?

I'm with you there @The Chad plus one with experience who can help develop our young crew in Pole, Fainu, Taupau-Moors, Kit etc.

Maybe NAS or Kamikamica is who we are looking at or may look at. Whether they want to come to us is a different story especially with R360 throwing dollars around.
