Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Ray Stone will be our tone setter on and off the field, Jake the jet Averillo just for is speed,if did sign Adam Elliott can we also sign his wife up as well???
Don't know why, maybe because when he was a junior for us I saw Stone as a tackling machine, I would throw the chequebook to get that guy back as a lock. He is all heart and unless I'm thinking of someone else he is a great defender and knows how to hit in a tackle. To me no idea why but I just see him as a simpler Scott Sattler. Reckon he would make a great body guard for our halves aswell.

If we can get Jack Hetherington at a low cost I’m with you and think he’d be worth the risk to add some NRL experience at the very least.
What is the injury that has kept Adam Elliott out for virtually the whole season ? If we could be confident he would be injury free to start 2026, he’d be another experienced NRL middle worth considering,
I’ve heard Ray Stone and Jake Averillo are both keen to head back to Sydney if they can get an early release from the Dolphins. I’d be trying to sign both of them if we could.
Jack Hetherington & Adam Elliott FFS 🤦

He's pretty much bang on Pole size.

Won't signing him give you 3 body shapes roughly the same in Sione & Pole with Moale? It'll just eat into development time.

If we are adding to the middles, why get 5 cut outs of the same guy?
He's a bit bigger than our two..
Plus we need these sort of guys coming off the bench for impact...not endurance
I'm ok if affordable

Our team is not slow. You overstate this to the extreme.

Most of our backline players are sufficiently quick in their position.

If you're looking for Hamiso or Addo-Carr quick, then there are only a handful of those players in the NRL as they are rare.
We are most definitely the slowest team in the comp. By a long long way. Overstating this is not possible. The only player web have who can compete with pace is Bula, who's quite lazy as to when he applies himself.

On a weekly basis all of our backs would be slower than their opposite, 99% of the time. We desperately need to sign pace, in every single grade. Our complete disrespect towards the games most important attribute is astonishing

Very true BB even more noticable when all our forwards except Api, Pole & Sam Fainu are not that fast or have that fast leg turnover.

Taylan May is reasonably fast & Latu is an explosive half but we do lack outside backs who are either express or explosive. Mason is to a degree but lacks in too many other areas, I suppose To’a is fast enough coupled with his footwork & fend.

As mentioned above Jake Averillo would be someone who would add express pace & skill straight away & Khan Aloifa-Periera but seems to only play left wing so not very versatile.

A few speedsters would defiantly help. The game is basically played in 8 to 20 meters bursts of attrition, not a foot race to the line

Something is going on with him at the storm, he is surely copping plenty from Bellamy, could it be that he knows he is on the outer so overplays his hand and gets himself into trouble. There is a fine line between being the enforcer and getting suspended. He comes out and has a go in every game, so he is not mailing it in. Clutching at straws here, however maybe there would be less pressure on him at the Tigers and he could play with a little more control. Without the suspensions he is exactly what we need.
NAS is a very Dragons Flanno signing. Sounds good in theory but he's available for a reason, and it's not going to change once he gets there. See Klemmer, Gutho, Cook, Holmes. All a little past their prime.

Dunno mate I'd give him a miss, from the Australian newspaper below.

STORM’S $860K LIABILITY

Big Nelson Asofa-Solomona has now been charged 26 times for foul play since joining Melbourne Storm.

You name it, he’s done it - dropping knees, raised elbows, lashing out with his feet, attacking opponents’ heads, punching, crushers, a cannonball tackle and shoulder charges.

The 29-year-old prop is under contract until the end of the 2028 season on big bucks - $860,000-a-year according to the latest NRL Rich 100 list.

This is far too much cash for a serial offender, who, with his latest suspension, will have served 10 games in the last 12 months, missing two straight grand finals.

You can understand if Storm officials now regard him as a liability.

Coach Craig Bellamy and Storm management will wait until the end of the season to make a decision on his future.

We expect the giant forward will be offered the opportunity to look elsewhere.

He’d be a handy heavyweight signing for a club like St George Illawarra if he can ever sort out his disciplinary issues.

Or there is the option to join the breakaway R360 rugby union competition.
Look, I don't think we should sign NAS. But he is a gritty grubby player.
He is playing for a gritty grubby team. Melbourne have been coaching the chicken wing in for ages and he is just doing what his coach is telling him to do.

Only unlike Cam Smith, he is getting caught.

I’ve come to the conclusion if we sign one quality outside back to play right centre and leave To’a as depth, that would be all we need in regards to making our backline much more complete.
The two I would be looking at are Jake Averillo who would require an early release from the Dolphins. He would add some extra speed and quality we are lacking as well as provide quality cover at fullback.
The other one is Jesse Arthurs who looks likely to be the odd man out at the Broncos in 2026 and could likely obtain an early release because of it.
I would look at either playing someone like Arthurs at right centre, or on one of our wings if Makasini is going well enough to make one of the centre positions his own.

A few spend thrift grubs in the team would certainly help. But not someone who go's rouge to sit out an easy slide into NRL retirement
Looked like Seyfarth might have been our cheap bully boy last year , alas his heart is pure, lol
