Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Japan getting a hammering from Aussies these days. Life after 50....
Not just Australians. So many tourists here some places you'd swear you weren't in Japan, but also people on pr visas for work.
Just like Australia they need workers to support an ageing population; without them there's no workers, no tax revenue, no economy. Just like Australia, some people just see 'invader' without understanding why they need them here.
Main difference is wages are much lower than in Australia. No nationally set minimum hourly casual rate. Tokyo is around 1,300 yen per hour(13 dollars) country areas as low as 700 yen an hour. Buggered if I know how people survive on that. Monthly pay for permanent workers is low too.
Off to the Honda Collection Hall Tuesday. Big Collection of Honda bikes n cars next to Motegi Twin racetrack. Always been a Honda fan. Have had a 79 XL500 since new. Looks as ugly as me these days but still starts first kick if my knee is up to it.

Okay but our spine is still worth 3+ million. With the amount we are paying them we should be a lot more competitive then what we are

The roster isn’t going to improve much over the next few years
But that’s not the argument. The NRL ilhas 17 teams and you have to spend 95% of your cap. Most teams spend their money on their spine. All spines are expensive.

500k a season?

So where does all this talk about him supposedly being on 800 or 850k a season at the Storm come from.

All this speculation on who is on what really shits me, I would just like the NRL to be open about who is getting paid whatever amount and stop all the guessing, stuff the Rugby League Players Association.
Media reported the Storm paid him out 500k a season to get rid of him Hank hence the possibility of a new club getting him for 300/350k so the combination means he loses no money that he would be on before he left.

But you're right it needs to be more transparent the media can write any figure, no way of telling it's correct.

But then you've got caravans, speed boats, sports cars and luxury apartments on top of the regular brown paper bags that are kept off the books (or at least the "legit" set) that they give players from sunny Qld or Sydney (and the draw of the Coogee Bay Hotel, Northies or the Casino) as compensation for moving to a seriously messed up joint cold & wet bloody Winters and scorching hot dusty windy days in Summer where, at times you have to be in the to left hand bloody lane to turn right......in front of both traffic and tram lines?.......I suppose that's fair.....🤔🙄🤨

It kills me how so many members are against so many signings until he signs for another club. Personally i would love to have an impact player that gets you off the seat like NAS but noone wants him here. smh
The problem is his defence, he loves to hurt in the tackle.
IMO he just needs to put away the shoulder tackle away...
Simply catch, hold then use his weight/strength to dominate momentum to the ground.
Keep his aggression to running the ball hard.

I love your positivity, but I think you overrate some of our players.
Nothing wrong with with optimism, do we make the top 8 next season in your opinion ?
I’m seeing many fans happy and content with our roster and I assume that means we have many fans expecting a top 8 finish next year, however I am yet to see one person put their name to it and state they honestly believe we are making the top 8 next season.
I wish I shared your optimism, but I can only call it as I see it and I am struggling to find players in our team that are top 10 in their position across the NRL.
good on you for calling it as you see it mate. healthy debate is what makes this forum tick.

I think we can make the 8 providing we continue to see improvement in the playing group, which I believe we will, providing we don’t get hampered by injuries. I guess you can put me down!

Nathan didn’t win a comp without Luai.

Boom! In your face.
Plus Luai provided Penrith a great platform by leading them to second in the minor premiership last year, with Clearly only playing in 10 of those matches.

I expected a bit more on game day from Jerome this year, though next season, that will again depend on how Benji decides to use our halves. His choice to prioritise the toddler traitor from the beginning of the off-season ended up derailing our season.
