Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I grew up in the inner west and I know plenty of Wests Tigers fans from the area who never miss a Leichhardt Oval game, but think it’s beyond them to head any further west than Ashfield.
Our South-West based supporters embrace Leichhardt Oval much more than our Inner West based supporters embrace Campbelltown and I don’t think you need to diva survey to work that out.
Throw in all our South West based players who continue to get overlooked and shafted.
We once had a CEO who kept saying we are a development club and we embrace the South-West.
Actions speak much louder than words.
Sorry...but are you suggesting inner west players get some sort of leg-up at the club?

Literally all our juniors come out of the Magpies.

No you are misinterpreting what I am saying.
I don’t think Wests Tigers look after our junior players as a whole as good as they should and this includes our South-West based juniors and our Balmain District juniors and our players recruited from outside of these areas at a young age.
What I am saying is we are not going out of our way to try and include many of our South-West based juniors in our future too 30 plans, so it can rightly or wrongly give a feeling they are not being prioritised from that area.
Like anything in life you need a little bit of give and take to win over the trust of many in the South-West and despite plenty of words to say that is what we are planning, our actions have not been backing that up very well.

Seyfarth is a Dundas Shamrocks junior.

Broederlow is a Bulldogs junior who joined Balmain in Ball.

Haywood is a Penrith junior who joined Balmain in Matts.

Madden is a Knights junior who I believe went straight into our KOE team.

Pole is a Storm junior who joined Balmain in Ball.

Lanyon is a Dogs junior who went straight into our Flegg team.

Jock Madden is from the Hunter region, but good recruitment from Wests Tigers at that time got him to our club as a talented young junior representative player.
Out of your list 2 have already departed as of 2027.
5 are currently unsigned for 2027 and most if not all are very unlikely to be resigned.
2 of them being Adam Doueihi and Fonua Pole are thriving and currently very important parts of our NRL team, although we are now seeing some of our fans turn on Adam Doueihi.
Alex Seyfarth is also a current t NRL regular, but not wanted by many of our fans and there were rumours not so long ago that he was being shopped around.
2 of them being Heamasi Makasini and Jared Haywood are emerging as likely NRL regulars for the foreseeable future.
Josese Lanyon and Tino Tavana have made their NRL debuts this season and are locked in for 2027, but are yet to establish themselves as NRL regulars for 2027 and beyond.

Tino Tavana needs a sprint and strength coach this off season.

I think he is quite strong and he gets an A+ for the heart and courage he plays with, but he definitely needs to improve his speed if that is possible and he needs a big improvement on his overall defence.
Is he on a Development/Train & Trial or Top 30 contract for next season?
If we are being honest he is not quite good enough to command a top 30 spot just yet, but if he can somehow improve his speed and more importantly improve his defence, he could become a very handy player and then be deserved of a top 30 position.

I think Saukuru was initially in the Bulldogs system too wasn’t he?

I thought that as well , some of his missed tackles was pathetic, I think he is trying to protect his shoulder

I thought seyfart was from dundas shamcocks

If we lined our forward pack against nearly all the teams they would get beaten by 20 metres in a 100 metre dash. Our backline would struggle also. The game is all about explosive acceleration. We have a couple of guys who are quick over the length of the field, but we don’t have anyone who can hit top speed in a step or two. You need speed for both defence and attack. Once our first line of defence is penetrated the alarm bells go off because we lack the speed to mop up

Our pathways development from a large junior nursery is beyond poor and that impacts the first grade side, our cap, our coach and the makes a mockery of the "development club" title that we are supposed to be.
Developed who in the last 10 years since Teddy walked that looks even close to be a rep player let alone a nucleus of quality FG players?
Meanwhile let's keep asking why our FG coaches are pushing s$#t uphill.

Doueihis defence was just as pathetic the other night (and he’s not a 21 yr old kid)
Better sack all the dogs ay?

Maybe we should ask why our defence hasn’t improved in a decade?
We had great defence for the first 7 rounds.. so something did change for the better. then it changed again for the worse.
