Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

FR:TerMay/Twal/Pole/Sione/Seyfarth/Hunt... NEED DEPTH HERE

That front row should keep us hovering around 12th to the spoon.
If talking purely about middle forwards such as our props and 13, we really do need someone with aggression as our enforcer to lead the way, but this type of player is very hard to find and there are virtually none available anytime within the next few years.
You could maybe put Moses Leota in that category, but for roughly 2 million dollars at age 32, I very much doubt he would provide value for money and would be another over inflated contract that makes it hard for us to fit in quality from 1-17.
Although sometimes very underwhelming such as the first 20mins against the Warriors, I think we have very competitive middle forwards on Terrell May when he is not going half paced, Fonua Pole when he is ripping in like he was against the Warriors, Alex Twal when he is playing like he has for most of this season and Sione Fainu and Alex Seyfarth who for their 400k contract values generally provide value for money without being star players, Sione with his impact and aggression on both sides of the ball and Seyfarth with his workrate which often goes unappreciated.
As much as Royce was great for us this season, we ideally need a 6th and 7th middle that can provide much bigger minutes per game than Royce can when required, so I think his proposed moved to the ESL would be good for both parties.

Leniu was playing with a lot of venom for the roosters on the weekend...seemed like he had a bit of a point to prove.

I'd honestly be happy if they busted out an Oujia board and got Steve Folkes to run things again.

Only time I can ever remember us having decent defence was under Folkes.
Remember hearing the stories about the guys training under Folkes, he used to thrash them then yell at them to train harder, remember players saying it was a culture shock but what they needed, said it was the fittest they had ever been.

I like your suggestion over the weekend of Ray Stone tbh.

IMO we need Fonua Pole to step back up to the starting middle role next season to bring that leg speed & complement Terrell May who is more of a strength hit-up merchant.

Then Sione Fainu is suited to that prop rotation role & Alex Seyfarth on smaller mins bringing his defensive effort. If we keep Royce Hunt, great ... still good on the 6-man bench if we need his high octane style for a 10-min burst.

But Ray Stone, great as a smaller interchange middle in the modern game. High leg speed, leads line speed, hits like a truck which can be a momentum changer and has a personality type we lack in (steely, aggressive). Yes he's a bit banged up but for 2 years on $350k pa would be worth it.

We could still invest in a big powerful project type middle like Suli Pole and hope that either he or Taupau-Moors can develop into the beast we need long-term.

This also happened with Madge for a short period. Problem was the cattle was way worse with guys like Packer, Mbye and Reynolds taking the bulk of the cap.

Bulldog’s Bite: Tigers, Eels and Bulldogs are failing western Sydney with dismal 2026 campaigns

The Tigers are a mess, the Bulldogs are no threat and the Eels have become a transit lounge. West is no longer the best with three once-powerful clubs bumbling along to inevitable failure, writes Dean Ritchie.

Parramatta’s interest in Luai continues a worrying trend for the Eels. If Luai signs, it would only be for one-year before he jets off to Port Moresby.

Luai could follow Jonah Pezet in signing a one-year pit-stop deal with the Eels.
The Eels signed Jonah Pezet for just one season before he shifts to Brisbane and Zac Lomax lasted only one year at the club, despite signing a four-season contract.
Parramatta must start instilling a long-term belief in their club because quick fixes don’t necessarily work in rugby league. At the moment they are a Band-Aid club.

The Eels are becoming a transit lounge for players who have a year to fill before joining a rival. Let’s be honest, it’s another season of failure for a once-dominant rugby league club. Yes, the Eels have endured injuries but the days of fans copping that as an excuse are well and truly over. Strong clubs overcome injuries.

The Bulldogs have won seven games this season and won’t make a splash in the finals, if they qualify. This was a side which reached the top four last year and promised so much this season. What’s that old saying: Promise the world, deliver an atlas.

Only mighty Penrith is saving western Sydney from rugby league embarrassment.
Canterbury is just staying relevant on the competition ladder while the Eels and Tigers are scrapping around like old has-beens.
Remember when west was best?
Not anymore.
Here we go...nothing article atating the bleeding obvious ... only to sink the boot in

Yes more tripe , these guys have no professional ability to find a decent story to write , today you need 5 stories per day for all the tick tops ,face book etc so they just write shat to get people to read it , poor work

You guys have been touching on the forward pack this is the area that needs to be addressed, at full strength it's great but a couple of injuries and it turns to crap, just have to look at the bench when down on forwards.

I've had a gutful of Terrell and his pussycat runs, he's a prop not a wannabe ball distributer for god sake just run hard and straight.

Beef the pack up for next season, Blore is a must go after him Tigers, then 2 more useful props or 1 and a tough lock, if this is ignored well get ready for another crappy season and a full swear jar.

Bend the line, find your front and get a quick play the ball....the sad thing is when this happens....rarely...we dont take advantage as we play in slow motion across the park or players around the ruck are on the back foot because they are so shocked that one of our forwards got a quick play the ball.

Like who ?
Bula at least 250k overpaid and that is being very generous , Turuva at least 150k overpaid, a 34 and 35y.o Api at least 150-200k overpaid.
Terrell May also very overpaid on recent efforts, but with such a shortage on decent props, I don’t think we had much choice with him.
There is an an extra 600k we should have for starters and you can sign a handy player with that cash.

If you think Bula and Turuva are overpaid this year .., you are really going to hate it next year 😂

Bula is the only one the opposition need to worry about as a wide threat at the moment .., sure he is featuring prominently on tne opposition game plan each week and seems to get plenty of attention from the opposition…
