If Latrell goes to Cowboys i'd go hard for Drinkwater, that kid is a talent

Cowboys could be a stunt to flush out Val Holmes to make a decision and Townsville is a very long way from Taree

Townsville is a big country town .....many Qld cities still are

I just don't see Latrell wanting the work rate involved at fullback once he gets there myself

What makes him special is he is similar to Inglis .....he may only get involved in a game for 10 minutes ...but for those minutes .....wow

Personally 850 k max for me ...he isn't a million dollar player

Yeah I don't like Townsville myself ...couldn't live their ......but living in Sydney is far worse ......the only upside is you get to watch lots of WT's games .....hang on ...is that an upside

The great thing about Qld in many ways ...and when we deal with the cyclones , floods etc that mentality is what gets complete strangers helping others , helping neighbours who are in need you barely know who are sick and or battling

@TSupps05 So true. Drinkwater is a great FB and would fit the Tigers side well. We would be getting plenty of quality for say $500k pa as opposed to offering LM double that. Let the dominos fall and make an offer to this kid. We would be so much better off financially and he is motivated to do well.

Let's assume the Roosters are done with Latrell and they also want out of Crichton so they can load up for a big go at say David Fifita or others. If we can agree to terms with Latrell on a $1m per season 3 year deal from 2021 as he is currently signed to end 2020. Why then would the Roosters let us take him for 2020 especially when they have him for $450k?

We make his release part of a deal to take on Crichton from 2020 at zero cost to the Roosters, which would cost us $800k per season, then they have $1.25m plus what's left of Cooper's money to go nuts signing a couple of big names

We then do a deal with Latrell that slightly back ends a $4m 4 year deal to ease the potential pressure on 2020

I think we'd have to know there's a positive outcome coming on McQueen or JRey, perhaps both, but it's definitely not the craziest thing I've come up with

I would prefer signing someone like aj brimson for cheap then a mitchell whos on 1.1 mill a year and then use the rest of our money on other positions like the forward pack

Lot of talk about Brimson .....he is still only a potential player ...he isn't a set in stone nRL player yet

He has a big difference between his best and worst performance still

Fix the forward pack in 2020

Look at the halves /backs /hooker situation beyond that if it needs repairing

Just read that Toronto Wolfpack might be trying to get Holmes, so maybe the rumour regarding Townsville might have some legs.

Big difference between best and worst - you say about AJ.

I say the same thing about LM, Hap.

Did you see the test against Tonga - He would be worth peanuts on that performance.

I think he's been pretty consistent, he doesn't really turn in bad performances and he always seems to put in. He just hasn't shown himself to be a game breaker in the same way Mitchell has as yet. On demonstrated ability to date Mitchell is absolutely streets ahead of him - they're not even in the same conversation.

@Muffstar

I wouldn't believe the story about Valentine Holmes and Toronto for one minute.

Don't forget the Super League also has a salary cap still, and it's actually lower than the NRL.

The reason they could throw so much money at SBW is Super League clubs get an exemption from the salary cap for one marquee player. If it's true SBW has signed with them then they couldn't afford to throw much at Valentine Holmes

He reminds of Benji rocks wise .....has some massive brain farts still ....I'd like him to kick those issues 1st

The forwards are key to us ...especially with Madge as coach ....that has to be our priority for next season

It will give something for Brooks and Marshall to play off and then we can look at the Benji / hooker issue in 2021

If the reported 1.7 million is true we should be able to get 3 quality forwards for 1.3-1.4 million if we can add some decent TPA's along with them

Everyone's a salary cap expert. Not as annoying as ''If Madge can get player x firing'' mind you. Man, that grates on me.

The Madge comments are the most annoying by far. He's just a coach, not a miracle worker. If Bennett/Robinson/Bellamy can't get them firing I don't think Madge can either.
