Ok so we replace Matterson with Leilua. Not like for like but that’s ok. I’m happy we haven’t lost anything there. But we are still behind where we finished end of last year. Need a hard nosed prop (maybe Packer can be this role) and definitely need pace and impact in the backs - centre or fullback.
Talau, Garner, Twal, Mikaele will all improve I think. We get that prop and an elusive back, then we have an improved, and potentially very competitive, roster.

If Packer is fit and motivated and Musgrove is playing, I feel our middle is better than the end of last year.

I didn’t think of musgrove. I think what you say is right

Trawling through social media... Seems as though Packer and Madge have patched things up. . Which can only be a good thing for WT

while we have a strong nucleus of young forwards, one thing we certainly lack in the pack is experience. a fit Packer with the right attitude will be massive for us moving forward, regardless of his pay packet.

Pascoe just said on Triple M that Musgrave is training not sure if he's been signed tho.

Well if he is training almost half way there sounds as though its all up to him now and his attitude

If Packer fires and musgrove plays I reckon our prop rotation is sorted. But Packer must intimidate and run more than 40 metres a game!

Becoming the Samoan test team

Not trying to be a downer, but unlike the Tongans, Fijians and PNG, the Samoan test team has been useless

Not quite. From what I understand the NRL have allowed him to train so he is not disadvantaged IF they rule he can play.

For mine, Luciano not being like for like is a positive, well potentially anyway. Matterson's versatility value weakens as he is getting bigger, older and slower, making him more easily replaceable, maybe not simply by an individual, but by the collective. He is a big loss, though I found his attacking performance underwhelming my expectations and think he is more suited as a middle player.

Lucy on the other hand is a true edge player, whose presence in attack will not only give WT some real physical strike power, he will also create attention and therefore space to allow others to shine. As I said during the year and the stats placed on here recently confirmed, our team spent plenty of time in the opposition's half, we simply lacked the impact players to convert the advantage. So basically, I don't expect the team to miss Matterson much, if at all.

I think we'll miss Matterson. He was a quality edge player that was equally at home in the middle. In saying that excited to see Leilua join the team. He's a real handful and yet to reach his peak.

Disagree, they thumped PNG mid year, they've had Matt Parish as their Coach..... cut them some serious slack

Yeah Matterson won’t win you a game with a huge impact play. Leilua might. But we will miss Matterson’s work rate I reckon

Elijah Taylor hasn't a bad work rate either.

Was awesome closing out the season. One of our best. Possibly our 13 next season 🤔
