Mitchell looks like doing a"prodigal son" and I hope JAC does the same in the not too distant future.

What do you mean by a "prodigal son"?

The story of a prodigal son is about a son who leaves his family home but after a time in the wilderness sees that the error of his ways and decides that he is much better off back at home to which he meets a welcome return. I am saying that Mitchell has seen the error of leaving his original home (Roosters) and now wants to return to them.

I am hoping that JAC does similarly and returns home to his original 1st grade NRL team (Wests tigers) to which Iam sure that he will be happily welcomed.

Prodigal son is a title that is more apt for JAC than it is for Mitchell because Mitchell hasn’t actually even left the Roosters yet, so there is no returning, he’d just be staying.

He's checked out just hasn't collected his bags yet.

I'm going to try not to waffle when I pass this tidbit on;

I bumped into Wayne Pearce at my local gym this morning. He is one of my favourite all time Tiger players so it was a buzz to have a brief chat. Things to come out of the conversation included;

- He rated Madge as a coach and thought the perception of him as being too tough was a media beat up. Bellamy and Arthur were also tough, it's just that some players take time to adjust to new coach's methods.
- He thought the Tigers would go well this year. Madge needed a couple of years to settle in and start making a difference.
- He replied he 'didn't know' when I asked him if he thought the Tigers would make any other signings this off season.
- He said he thought there was some good, young talent coming through.

Anyway, there you go, some genuine information from a Tiger legend! I'm not sure how close Wayne is to the inner machinations of the club but it was great to get some honest insight from a guy who should know!

Junior is old school, and he would've loved the hard training....my favourite all time player

Good call and he still loves it now!

If a player complains how hard training is, then they need to have a look at themselves, or get a job doing something else...These guys back in the day belted themselves and didn't have the protections that modern players have. Apart from a few exceptions the players these days don't know how good they have it

One of the best ways to gauge a player's commitment, professionalism and, plain old fashioned guts, is on the training paddock. This is why I cringe when I hear about Jarryd Hayne's appalling attitude at whichever club he played at. I cannot believe that the 'one rule for me and stuff the rest of the team' system was ever allowed to exist. Doesn't matter how much of a star player, it's not on.

I find it disgraceful!!!!

I remember one origin Nathan Hindmarsh made so many tackles he puked his guts out. That guy worked hard....then this prima donna Hayne struts around going I'll do what I want?? back in the day the other players would've leveled him out

He basically lead the new era of professionalism. He was always rated as the fittest man in league. So many looked at him as the gold standard of what was required to compete at the top .
No surprises he loves Madge.

No, not at all but hopefully he and a lot of others respect him for other assets other than just his tough fitness regimen.

Hi all, long time reader, first time poster... I read the comments section of an article on the roar. A former storm insider gave his insights on what madge looks for when recruiting. Interesting stuff and in my opinion sheds him in good light:

“ When I was at the Storm we called it “the cuppa test”. In other words if the Head Coach did not like you then it was irrelevant how good your video and stats analysis was. Club founder John Ribot told me that if you would not invite them to your home to dinner or babysit your kids then they cant make our team.
That philosophy is massive with the Wests Tigers Head Coach Michael McGuire. I have never seen anyone talk to players like he does in an interview as his focus is on the players family, his upbringing and goals.
So, I would love to have the “Cuppa Test” built into my program, but it is a gut feel thing and it is more powerful than any stat.“ S Woodward

They were my thoughts as well and that Ribot would definitely not be welcome for a cuppa.

Secondrower wasn't he and shifted to the wing when at Manly?
