Yeah good. Sitting in Noumea atm. Really dig this place. I’m working on my Greg Louganis incase we haven’t signed anyone by the 27th. Which is looking likely.

If souffs truly don't have a cap issue for this year then why would they encourage a young player who their coach "thinks highly of" to negotiate elsewhere with 2 yrs left to run on his current contract.. smoke & mirrors...
At the very least Douehi is solid depth for souffs given the fact LM's fitness will be targeted by opposition teams and will likely pick up an injury or 2 sometime this year.

I'd say call their bluff for this season because they're most definitely gonna feel the cap squeeze next year. Then when they're feeling the pinch, and if he's still available, demand they pay 1/2 the freight(250K) for his final year.

This isn't a do or die signing for us so it has to work in our favor, otherwise focus on the bigger fish next off season.

I get that, but I also think every situation is unique and it seems LM had his sights set on souffs this whole time. Perfect situation for him on & off the field given he's clearly higher maintenance than most and souffs have their culture set up to manage it better than us.

2021 negotiations is where Tigers management will determine their fate. Too many good players off contract that fill our exact needs. Add to that the dead weight contracts which are expiring from the cleary era puts a lot more pressure on recruitment wins considering it'll be the best cap situation the club has ever been in...

I don't think as fans people realize that the acceptance of this club's crap is half of this club's problem

They know no matter how much they screw things up ...people will keep coming back ......record memberships based on the signing of Luciano Leilua

We will sign an outside back before the season starts. Who and when, who knows. But we're targeting speed, and have been for months. If we end up with nothing that would be a dismal failure from our recruitment team, especially considering we have lots of money to spend.

If Souths backended Doueji deal like has been suggested (300+500+600k) then it is reasonable for them to have to chip in an amount which equates to us paying his average salary for that period, about 450k. It's too easy to rort the cap to sign players on back ended deals and then offload them without offering to chip in - and it's extremely rough on the player. This is why the league outlawed backended deals, or at least they said they did. Maybe Adam signed beforehand.

Would Doueihi be on anything like this? He extended in April 2018 after 4 starts in top grade so I find it hard to imagine he got 3 years $1.4m
I like him but not that much, 30 games and just two seasons, plus he had an ACL since then, I'm sure he's on the rise but i wouldn't think he's half a million dollars worthy at this stage
Hopefully we do get him, but would be good to see Souths have to chip in on say a $400k contract

I've been critical of the club in the past. I certainly believe things should be better, but you can't correct nearly 2 decades of mismanagement in a few months. Since when is being pragmatic and realistic excusing ineptitude? It's not black and white.

Maybe because I don't adopt the black or white approach like you do that's not good enough? Perhaps follow your own advice and foe those you have the issue with.

I said it surprised me that people did it .....people can bang on all they like about our wonderful P&L statements and our financial situation .......that side of the club doesn't float my boat

I like watching and talking rugby league .....not reading the Financial Review

Hey, no problem. I realise that 99% of posts here are opinion. I think what’s going wrong for us is that players have this perception we are desperate and as such are only prepared to move for a significant pay rise. I think we reinforced that view with our handling of the Mitchell negotiations.
More recently Pascoe has affirmed that’s the case by trying to turn it around by giving the media “we won’t pay overs”. IMO

It will take time but Madge will fix this place

I think we will all be surprised as the year progresses at how well we are improving

I just hope it equates to wins and not lots of close losses

What do you see as Madge’s immediate areas of concern? What would you like fixed?
