Doueihi had a meeting with Roosters yesterday, Contemplating a move there.
Tedesco HAS apparently done his pec and Roosters are in panic mode. (Feel for him if in fact true)
Apparently we should be expecting an announcement next week Tues/Weds if he agrees.
Interesting turn of events."

I can actually see this happening where Roosters will get AD and he will turn out to be a SOO player.. We will sit back and say if only we increase our offer by 100k...

I have a feeling we will be hearing from AD and his management some time very soon. We are not coming across as desperate as we were for LM and we learnt a big lesson with how the media can portray us. I like how Madge is playing this, we’ve thrown him an offer and if he wants it or if souths pitch in then let’s table it up. AD definitely has talent, but the world won’t come to an end if we miss out on him. He needs us more than we need him atm.

This is the type of realistic assessment of our club that I like. We are the ones in the box seat. We have great opportunities available for quality players who are prepared to accept hard work and a fair wage. If you want to be overpaid or you don't want to work hard than go to another club.

Mmm? So we are looking for players who don’t want to be paid highly and want to work harder than most players.
That should attract a better than average response. Should we get in extra people to man the phones?

No we are looking for players that want to win a comp. That takes hard work and it requires getting a talented team on the park. One the key factors in getting a talented team on the park is not overpaying players.


You mean players like Teddy? He has talent and wanted to win a comp?

Teddy is a prime example of a guy that is extremely hard to build a team around if you are a club on the up like us. He is a primma donna with no loyalty at all. Great player but he is the sort of guy who you don't give your back too unless you want a knife in it.

Spot on. The gimp is a mercenary. He wanted a club with plenty of cash that were willing to provide him with the soy-latte lifestyle (and give him the Hollywood teeth). Hence Unca Nick ticked all the boxes.


He wanted to go to a successful club, one that regularly made the top 8 and who could blame him.
WT was a basket case just before he left, new coach new CEO every time you turned around.

It’s never our doing when things go pear shape. We all need to be better at what we do.

For those that suggest we get Lichaa, he may not cost much however ,it would mean that he takes up a spot in the 30, So if we do get AD and JL, that leaves us no room to pick up anyone else. So if Stefano does come available this year we could not take him.

Media prefer a Rabbits success story, general population would prefer a Tigers one over Souths....

Is this true though? I think we used to be fairly popular with the general population but I don’t think that’s the case anymore. Certainly not from people I know that support other clubs.

You can also put Moses, Woods and Matterson into that category. Great players but they won't stay at your club unless they can't get a matched offer elsewhere. Some people can be dud people but good players. Note that I didn't say better offers elsewhere. That is why you have to cull players like that from your club.


Does that include Farah and Benji? Were they also really really good guys up until they got an offer from another club?
And when they came back did our training suddenly transform them from dud people to being the faces of retail chain The Good Guys?

Very different situations. Robbie was pushed out. Benji left because we weren't going to pay him what he wanted and expected. We made the right decision in relation to Benji.

I don't think they work for the The Good Guys now.

The point being that a team requires a group of guys that are talented and committed to winning. To get a group of talented guys you can't overpay everyone because there is a salary cap.

The Teddy example is a good one. The guy had no loyalty to us at all. That is who he is as a person. What could the club possibly do. Same as Moses, Matterson and Woods.

Surely this isn’t possible. With what cap are the Roosters to outlay $500k plus? They are also supposedly after the other Morris twin to cover for that centre who did his ACL. Ridiculous...

So Earl you have never changed jobs or company for better opportunity and more money...?

No. I'm in a different situation though. Those guys that left weren't getting better opportunities. They are playing NRL footy and if they stuck together and didn't try and screw us over contract wise they could have had success at Wests.

I think the main reason teddy left was to improve his football can you really say he hasn’t improved since he left here? I think if Madge was in charge back then he would have stayed

I don't get this line of thought. We've never really been a basket case. Maybe in the pre Wests Tigers days but geez we aren't that bad. This we are so bad attitude is weird to me. If we are that bad don't support us. Some people like to be unhappy and pessimistic though and if that suits you cool.

I can blame him really easily but that is just my perspective. I would have stayed no problems.

The Roosters have a bigger so called war chest than Tigers’.
There’s gonna be a lot of dejected fans when DA signs with Chooks and gets picked for SoO Blues .

There’s no way Roosters will offer AD 550k for next year or a 4 year contract and Souths will not make any contribution to Roosters. Only way Roosters get him is with a lower reported salary but with either TPA or other promises. And what position will he play for Roosters? He’ll be in same position as with SS. But maybe Nick P and Trent R are a more attractive option long term. Fact is Souths made a bad deal and no one should subsidise them. Just like no one is keen to bail us out of JRey, Macqueen and Packer deals.

I'm not a whinger but if he goes anywhere else and turns into a SOO fullback and kills it I'll admit we made the wrong decision. I want him here. I also understand that the club needs to manage our cap. If we can't get certain players because they are asking more than what we think they are worth so be it.

Let's be honest though - we've lost Matterson, Moses, Teddy, JAC, Woods and Taupau and our results are no worse from losing those guys.

What if he doesn't play SOO for the Blues. What if he is a dud. It's hard to predict the future.

I'd like AD but not with his backended deal we have enough bad contracts already, Jrey, Mbye even Nofo's at a pinch. On the rare occasion we do pick up someone decent on a good contract that benefits us aka Matterson they walk out on it. We really cant win, AD on a sensible deal im good with something around the $400-450 k for 3 years and maybe an option of a forth in the clubs favour. I know somehow someway someone will convince him to join them perhaps with a paper bag in tow. I think we have to stick with our stance on this now, maybe it will pan out for us and he becomes a brilliant player for us there has to be a line and in sand where you say enough's enough. I dont trust Pascoe to do that he was the one who signed Mbye and JR off i just hope that Madge and the new guy from the rorters can change that for us.
Edit forgot Packer ridiculous deal Pascoe has a bit to answer for.
