I was really disappointed with Cini. Very poor defensive reads. As a smokie, I wouldn't be surprised if Reece Hoffman really challenges Talau for a future Centre position. He looks good.

Hoffman to centre, he looks like he is ready. On Cini, he is a centre and is elusive but he is not a winger. I don't know why WTs has this perchance for attempting to turn centres into wingers. Cini needs to work hard on his defence because his future is centre, not wing.

Other than make an easy try look really difficult and make some pretty tame hit ups. Neither Cini or Hoffman will be pushing the Nofo/Jennings/Thompson wing battle.

For a first time NRL match he demonstrated that he was at that level. Scored a try and looked solid in defence. Obviously he played out of position because he is a centre but did well. I have doubts both our first string wingers could have got to the line.

Talau showed why he needs a season playing for the Magpies. His poor decision making in defence makes him a target in every game.

Listen to yourself. You are talking about a 17-18 year old kid. This is what I was talking about last night, everyone going too in depth about what they see in a trial that had only half a dozen first graders. Now we’re at the point we’re a discarding a kid on a development contract and talking about how he’s not ready. Of course he’s not ready, that’s why he’s on a development contract. He won’t see first grade till at least June. There’s no possibility of him usurping anyone come round one, so calm your farm.
