So, if Roy Masters is correct - the cap is $9.4m + $100k car allowance. **Roosters, Bulldogs and Cowboys** and a few others spent for $10M. So the fire sale will definitely be happening.
Would guess WT and knights would be in the best position for getting players being forced out.

Not much I would take from either side tbh

Taumalolo from Cows which is no chance. Hess is no chance either.

Dogs are full of backloaded plodders.

Roosters have no standouts in the forwards really. Napa and Hargreaves are no chance.

Taukeiaho from roosters I wouldn't mind

Forgot about him, i'd have him too

He kicks goals too

I know we've got Tui and Dylan Edwards is signed until the end of 2018 at Penrith but gee whiz it would nice to replace Teddy with this kid.
He's gonna be something special if he continues to improve, he breaks tackles and beats people with ease and he's more direct than Teddy is, he's the real deal and the next superstar of the game in my opinion.

rona was keen to do a deal as he didnt want to be left without a club as most clubs have spent their cap by the end of the year

Is Rona salary cap exempt because he's coming back from Rugby?

good call, nrl have a war chest for this. wonder if we are allowed to use it.

No thats reserved for the so called big club's, but the way the NRL is being run of late that war chest has probably fallen into the black hole.

There is no war chest,it was dumped not long after it was first implemented. I don't think it was ever used, and it was a stupid idea as it could never beenfair to any of the clubs
anyway( not that there's ever much fairness in the NRL about anything that they do)

Hoffman is 33 now so i would only offer 1 yr with and option in our favour, he's still paying decent footy but is well and truly in the twilight of his career

Add another year to that andhes only going further backwards. I hope they stay well away from him

I'd take Gordon for 1 year with a one year option in our favour. He is a good goal kicker and the best fullback at our club. Tui would learn his craft under him and would be a utility. Preferably Connor Watson and Tui fight it out as fullback but it sounds like he is going to the knights.

Just read somewhere that Te Maire Martin may still be looking for another club in 2018 as his mooted move to the Warriors now seems to be off and he still seems to be on the outer at Penrith. Might be a fairly inexpensive pickup. Pretty talented kid as I recall.

Out-of-favour Penrith half Te Maire Martin appears to be running out of options as he attempts to resolve his future. Martin appeared to be headed across the Tasman as the Warriors scoured potential replacements for Kieran Foran. The 21-year-old knocked back the chance to join Melbourne to head back to his native New Zealand, although both those options are off the table. The Warriors have re-signed their own promising youngster Ata Hingano after resigning themselves to missing out on disgruntled Shark James Maloney.

I think many would have preferred him over Reynolds a few months back. Now he's in the "we don't want other teams reserve grade rejects" category.

I think it's been stayed Gordan will take a pay cut, stay at the roosters and play wing.

Safe to say it's not gonna happen. Thankfully…
We should sign Rona and then our back line is stacked and we have depth too.

this made me laugh:

The Bulldogs have been accused of spending beyond their means, but Castle said they would definitely be cap compliant for 2018 and beyond.

"We have a plan A, B and C depending on where the salary cap number ends up landing," she says.

"'Offload' is one word to use but I'd [prefer referring to them] as contracted players that may be released in order to develop their career elsewhere. It's a reality of modern-day football. If a player can finish early with a club and get the opportunity to go two or three years somewhere else when we have no intention of re-contracting them, it might be opportune for them to move now.

How can the NRL register new contracts for players at clubs where there is anecdotal evidence to suggest they will not be cap compliant? Is it within the guidelines to stockpile players so you can deny other clubs of a fair chance of signing them? Surely a strong Newcastle is in the best interest of the NRL.

Is Watson going to Knights?

We still do not have a goalkicker:

Only one we have half decent is Lolo and he is only a 66 percenter …. Not good enough unless we are planning on scoring all our tries under the post.

It seems the Dragons are pretty keen to sign Johnston as a fullback. I hope this means we have a chance of bringing Esan Marsters' brother to the WTs as he progression will be blocked if Johstone signs.

What position does his brother play?

Gordon is more likely to play fullback next year at Easts than Wests, and that's only because Teddy is likely to spend a part of the season out.

He's a fullback, big wraps on him too.

Fullback. He carved our U20s team last week.
