We are naive if we dont think that talking to players to backflip doesnt happen... look at Teddy and the Raiders

I gotta say that attitude is poor. Justifying low character decisions because other low characters do it too. There’s a way to do it and a way not to . Enticing a player to backflip whilst you’re conducting a revolutionary loan deal , is definitely not the way. But hey , when it happens to us again I’m sure all you guys will scream bloody murder. The hypocrisy is real.

I'm sure when Grant goes back to Melbourne or another club grab him (because we didn't try to keep him) and he turns out to be a real superstar.

Everyone will be saying "Good on the Tigers, that had principals, haven't got a decent DH but they did what was right by the NRL."

Bad luck the NRL never do the right thing by the Tigers.

Wake up mate - this is war!

And that’s fine. But don’t have a whinge the next time we’re on the receiving end.

Would love to have him, was one of the best locks going around (don't think he would leave either), but his old man did play for the Tigers.

I'd always support the club, but struggle to support the direction the coach was taking.

If he is found not guilty, or if the case is dismissed due to whatever reason, that doesn't mean he didn't do what they accused him of. I don't trust the legal system to always get those things right.

I don't know what happened, I have no other information than what I've read from public sources, but the picture painted leads me to think he is the sort of person I wouldn't want in my football team or anywhere near anyone or anything I hold dear.

very well said.

Not very well said at all. The legal system is the best we've got and you can't assassinate a bloke's personality simply because he was accused of something. No - nothing about the de Belin reports paint a good picture, but those are not evidence, nor are they are fair and impartially run trial.

By the same logic you string up Brett Stewart or Josh Reynolds, based on the "picture that is painted".

So you'd be ok signing up OJ Simpson?

Well he was actually convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping...plus he's 72 so...

Wake up mate - this is war!

You wake up ! It’s this very attitude why the system is broken. You don’t have to be a piece of crap. You can choose to operate in a way that’s fair yet still aggressive in recruitment and retention. This is what irritates me about rugby league in general “it’s war” LOL.
Hot tip , it’s not war . It’s business. Every other sport can operate in a way that’s respectful , to all the parties .
It’s this backwards , tribal , 1970s type thinking that holds the sport back . Loans should have happened 30 years ago . Trades should be happening . We should be sitting here talking about trade packages for Addo Carr . Or potential landing spots for some of our players. But nope , we talk about sabotaging a loan agreement .

That's extremely naive thinking. And the type of thinking that doesn't make the finals. Nice guys finish last. You think the Roosters are nice guys? Storm?

And you also have to wake up that there's no sabotage, it's business, and what's in his contract. It's fair play and us aggressively pursuing a fine young player. Nothing more.

Naive ? Umm no . It’s obvious you can chose to operate like that. But you don’t have to . The storm don’t operate like that . They don’t . ? sorry . And the roosters don’t operate like that either . Sorry . When you make a deal you stand by it , and the fact so many of you justify that behaviour makes me laugh because you all were extremely vocal around October last year. BUt EvERYoNE DoES IT.

The Storm and the Roosters don't operate like what exactly? Not sure what you mean.
Not enticing players from other clubs to break a contract?

I expressed my opinion, and it seems like you understood my expression so that's good. You don't agree with what I expressed, that's fine too, you don't have to.

The actions that were reported about this guy were disgusting, and as I said, I don't have any information on what really happened (no one except the people that were there can ever really know for sure), so if I was the boss of WT I would err on the side of caution and not go near him.

Hardly stringing anyone up. More looking after the integrity of WT and not willing to risk it on a potentially risky player.

I agree....guilty of a crime or not, the guy definitely tarnished himself by doing what he did with a pregnant wife at home.....he's a moral squid.....

Oh now the adulterers and philanderers are out.

A lot of contradictions going on there.

The main risk of de Belin is that he allowed himself to be in a compromised position that has hurt his career and his club. On that we can agree. Anything else regarding what was reported about him is just that, a report, not necessarily true or substantiated.

The actions reported against Josh Reynolds were disgusting as well, except it turned out they were mostly not true and his partner has a Grade-A nutbag.

I'm not even defending de Belin anyway, I'm defending the process. If he's guilty of what he is accused of, ok, he'll probably be banned for life anyway.

I'm not even defending de Belin anyway, I'm defending the process. If he's guilty of what he is accused of, ok, he'll probably be banned for life anyway.

The reality is, his public image has been massively tarnished. That's why the NRL at the time stepped in and made up rules so they could stand him down from playing, because in the public realm they were getting smashed for being associated with him. Court proceedings finished or not, he was a liability at the time, so they distanced themselves from him as best they could.

I wouldn't want WT to go anywhere near him for the same reason, it would tarnish WT's image, whether the player eventually was found to be not guilty or convicted. JReynolds copped a pounding in the press, luckily for him it was able to be turned around quickly. FDB is not so lucky, it has dragged.

I agree it isn't fair, it isn't how I would design the world, but that's how it unfortunately goes. His name will likely be mud even if he is found not guilty.

Thoughts on signing Milford if the broncos looked at moving him on? They're going to have to change something.

I think he'd be another Mbye. Unless some consistent high level half comes along I'd just as soon take a shot on a kid like Newcastle with Ponga or indeed us with Marshall.

Milford would be terrible for us.

He barely tries most weeks, and that is for the Broncs.

Too late to change his ways also.

He will give you one 9/10 a year...a few okay ones ...and a dozen invisible games.

We let Matterson go and i am sure Parra are in the ear of Stefano and i expect a backflip to come so why cant we get in Grant's ear, Momo i dont worry so much as we have Tommy "second coming " Talau who everyone seems to rate so he should be able to tske Mmbye's spot if he has to.

Why not.....everyone else does.

Cos it would make you a hypocrite?

And then what happens,,?
How can you be outraged about something when it happens to you but do the exact same behaviour?

Because we're human, we're self-interested and this is sport we're talking about. Take your logic elsewhere...

whatever ! You’re all a pack of whinging , entitled morons and I will make sure to call you that when it inevitably happens again. When you chose to act unethically in a closed environment of 15 other businesses ,who you’re all partners with in the growth of the game , how is that even sustainable . Especially when the introduction of loans and trades could be on the horizon. NRL fans do my head in at times

Don't lose the plot chief! Crikey.
If Grant chooses to leave Storm if Smith plays on next year... HE IS UP FOR GRABS BY ANY CLUB. Why can't you realise this?
I don't really see anyone here calling for Grant to break any contract.
