If Saab gets a release why is it assumed he’s coming here? Have I missed something that’s been reported?

We are a decent chance of getting him is all

Hoffman will definitely start next weekend unless Saab signs by Tuesday. Even then it's more likely for Hoffman to be named and Saab to be a reserve given he hasn't trained with us before

No, it just makes some sense:
- he wants to play first grade
- we have a roster spot
- we have little competition for a wing spot
- his request for a release coincided with Thompson going to GC

Doesn’t mean it will happen but it looks like a possibility. Not sure what other clubs have roster spots to fill.

No, it just makes some sense:
- he wants to play first grade
- we have a roster spot
- we have little competition for a wing spot
- his request for a release coincided with Thompson going to GC

Doesn’t mean it will happen but it looks like a possibility. Not sure what other clubs have roster spots to fill.

Plus the fact that he was best mates at school with Tommy Talau, his school coach is our flegg coach and may become an assistant
In the future, he lives in Western Sydney and is tired of travelling to Wollongong for training - prefers somewhere closer to home.

That and what was said in the previous post would indicate us or the dogs the likely targets. Dogs are a rabble, we're looking fairly sharp. Would cost the same as what Thompson was on so no problem there either.

I actually really like the look of young Hoffman. Seems a composed fellow and one to watch in the future. Wouldn't surprise me if he locks down a centre spot in the coming year or two.

There was a Naden from Dubbo who played for the Magpies. I believe he may be related.

Anyone know how long that Tupouniua bloke is contracted at the Roosters? They have forwards coming out of their backside at the moment, and he's been stuck on the bench for about 2 years now... Maybe he'd be looking for a start somewhere else?

Notice also JAC did not play for the Storm, I think it was related to his daughter. There is also the young centre released for the Eels, Ethan Parry.

Somethings up with Parry. Got released almost two months ago and not a whisper of a move. Must be in rehab, or being investigated by the police or something like that. Someone would have snapped him up by now if he was genuinely available. Parra don't just release talented young players for nothing, as we well know...

It's just a matter of agreeing on a deal. Saints want a half or 5/8 in return and I'm fairly sure it's Madden. If another team has a good young half and need a winger I'm sure they're in the mix as well.

Triple M saying Saab asked for a 2nd release and expect him to be gone next week... Fingers crossed we at lease show interest if it is granted. But I think he must have something planned because you wouldn't ask for a release unless you had something up your sleeve.

Technically he'd have to be released before he can negotiate with other clubs though that hasn't stopped players before

do we know what sort of contract he is on??

Do we have the space to sign him and flip jennings to the dragons and cover the difference?

Releasing Thompson means we have a spot needed to fill by August 3

I was told we don't need to fill the spot but we probably would.

I wouldn't be swapping Madden just when he is on the cusp of the NRL. Walters maybe.

Agreed. I say get him into the NRL and learn as Brooks did. He would have no better teacher then Brooks. He is already good at getting repeat sets. Good young halves are difficult to find.
