Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Out of the four teams listed we are probably a good chance to grab him. Storm probably wouldn’t even use him this year, and we are going better than dragons and bulldogs.

If dragons sign him they might release Saab who could come to us which isn’t a bad second options. All depends on whether rugby pay to keep him or not.

Don’t loan anyone to the Broncos, wouldn’t trust them for a second

The irony when we’re encouraging our club to try and keep Grant.

You might be encouraging the club to do so, I have never said to get him to break a contract

On the topic of our young forward pack. Does anyone know if Christian Welsh is being locked at as a possible replacement for Packer or ET?

Personally I think he would be a smart acquisition and seems to of recovered well from his knee injury.

Good player.

Frank Molo from the Cowboys is a very under rated prop he’s tough as nails. Fits Madgeball better.

Corey Harawira Naera is another that would make a big impact for us on an edge. If let back in.

Jack De Belin if innocent would also be a strong player to add to the team.

Molo plays well, CHN and JDB are different roles.
My thoughts with welsh was that he really could be that elder statesmen for us, that just hits it up makes the hard meters and does the clean up work. Kick pressure etc, all those things he does for the storm. And he would be a starter in our side each week. Molo in my opinion would be offering a similar impact to JA or TM which we kind of don’t need more of however if Packer was to finish up a year early Molo would be a good replacement for him. Welsh would replace Clark in my reasoning.

I’d take him but Twal is developing into that works horse for us.

Possibly,

Do you like Twal at Lock or would he be a prop again in your team if we were successful in signing an more ball playing prop/lock I.e Arrow?

I like him at lock allows more venom in attack and defence for our props as he makes a mountain of tackles .

I think moving forward we need a better lock, not that Twal isn't a good player, he doesn't have the skill set for a lock, great up front though. Souths have made a huge mistake signing Arrow, they have Murray, both are locks, both on big coin now Murray got upgraded

I think we have opened a can of worms with this loan. Im wrapt to have Grant but then you have someone like Simpkins (or any young player) rotting on the training paddock, no real chance of playing firsts, no reggies to play in. Brisbane come knocking for a "loan", Tigers say know whilst Grant stars week in week out....Simpkins thinks..."hang on...its ok for him.."

Simpkin is 18, he was never signed to play in the NRL this year. Grant is 22 and had only played 2 first grade games before coming to us. He's not "rotting", you can't just rush teenagers into the NRL and defend in the middle.

Grant being held back by Melbourne has helped his growth massively. he was banging down the door in Q Cup for an unbelievable amount of time but he was taking the mickey out of the comp before we picked him up. I feel like we should take a leaf out of Melbourne's book and slowly bring Simpkin through until he's 100% ready. Simpkin, if rushed, will fall behind and may not even fulfill his massive potential if we're not careful. we need to slowly bring him through, and regardless of whether it hurts us in the short term, it'll pay dividends in the long run.

Titans apparently targeting Herman Ese’ese for next year. Wonder if we will have a crack at him too, we’ve been linked to him in the past.

What happened to Koroibete coming back..

Apparently when he saw Robby Jennings score that electrifying try last week he pulled out of discussions, fearing he'd be stuck in reserve grade.

if Koro can tackle he can replace Nofo it woukd be an upgrade

I'd rather Vunivalu if we are looking at guys worried about their RA contracts. As fast and much bigger.

Team would be stronger with Koribete playing left wing and Nofa on the right

If the interchanges comes down Twal will be even better at prop. Locks are hard to sign maybe Debellin could be an upgrade allowing Twal to be a big minute prop.

Could really use Stefano at the club now.... we really are lacking size in the team. Even with Twal back it’s a skinny looking bench.

Storm do a great job at this, only debuting players when they’re physically and mentally up to standard, plus they’re always over 20.

You would hope that our administration is at least asking the question.
In saying that am I right in thinking that Blore is same age and similar size to Uto? If so I can't see him being far of getting a chance. If he joins the rotation we could be doing a lot worse with our extended forward pack.

Isn’t Blore a wide running Backrower? Was at least when he played in the Aus / Nz junior games I mean. I feel he might be in a similar mould to Josh Aloiai. Could be used out wide but will probably find his way in at Prop due to his ever growing size.

We're no better a chance than any of the other clubs who may be interested.
