CHN, Foran and keeping Grant would be plenty for me. Maybe Corey Oates if he falls out of favour in Brisbane. I don't think we really need another big name prop. Our props are all young and on the up, plus lock is becoming a smaller man's position again. Even then, we'll do fine with:

10. Musgrove
11. Garner
12. Leilua
13. Twal

14. Utoikamanu
15. Mikaele
16. Blore
17. McIntyre

The halves and hooker are going to be our problem areas going forward, especially if we can't keep Grant.

Theres no doubt Foran is a better footballer than JR when fit, in any event i think Foran is of contract this year JR next year. So we'd need to shift JR which we havent had any nibbles for yet to accommodate Foran. What price tag would you think is acceptable for Foran given his injury worries? I would say $400k is the ceiling in my mind someone like the Warriors probably would want to risk more than that. Just my opinion good footballer very injury prone not worth the coin he's on at the dogs obviously.

And if we had to pay $400k for Foran, whilst still paying $400k to offload Reynolds 9assuming somewhere else would pay him $400k), money is the same, so it's no cheaper, for a definite risk.

I'm with you, I think he's a really ordinary footballer. I don't see other clubs banging down the door at Souths to sign Johnston.

Yes he's quick and yes he can finish a bit, but he's bog average in his carries and is a poor fullback. I think he clearly lacks a killer instinct too - has a real hesitation about his game.

He’s gonna have no choice but to accept a much lower value contract simple as that. If some other club offers him massive money that’s their mistake

And I'm reasonably happy with Nofa and Talau ...Johnston in my opinion isn't an upgrade on either

Jake Clifford would be a good signing. In November we will able to offer him a deal and most likely Michael Morgan will take his spot when fit. He’s been good for cowboys and would go well at 7 or 6.

All these hypothetical teams for next year look great but I would be surprised if we made 3 or 4 really quality signings. Not many guys available and 15 other clubs wanting them. Would be happy with 1 or 2 quality players and some young depth signings

My bad I thought he was off contract next year, if that’s the case I’d offer him 500k a year on a 2 year deal with the 2nd year in our favour - by doing this we can assess how he goes in the first year, if he gets injured it’s a 500k problem for one season and we offload him not necessarily a big deal and we target a big fish for 2022 - if he performs and stays healthy then we’ve nabbed one of the games best halves on a dirt cheap deal and we go ahead with the second year

He’s still quite young as a half, he’s only 29

Picture this, all we need to do is not re-sign Dylan Smith and then acquire the Farah money for 2021 and we’ve got about 500k - offer that to Foran

Another way to think of it is:

Bulldogs will be looking for some halves, only club I can see taking Reynolds is them due to there history and knowledge of what he can do to a locker room and the energy he brings adding to a new culture the dogs are trying to build

Simple as this, he’s on about 800k

Dogs chip in 450k - we chip in 350k

If they don’t wanna do business, then that’s fine we don’t take Foran and we go another avenue- I’m only saying we take the stab on Foran if we can offload Reynolds

So basically if you think about it, we’re practically swapping Reynolds for Foran on the same money cause the money dogs chip in we’d give to Foran and just an extra 50k from our cap.....

He's close to friends, family etc. He might not want to go to England to play slightly more, or whatever he's on here. English clubs would be struggling with COVID-19 also so they might not even have the coin.

Your last sentence is a good outcome. We can really get an advantage by signing the best junior talent.

Your last sentence is a good outcome. We can really get an advantage by signing the best junior talent.

Hopefully Madge continues the trend of signing young guys as cheap depth instead of old guys on bigger coin. It’s what the big clubs do and it’s a great way to build a club

I'm not against him going if there's a better offer, he's happy to go and we come out of it better off overall. But it's highly unlikely, and I am reluctant to do that for another pivot that is probably spent as much time as Reynolds injured and especially while our attack appears to be better with him there.
