Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He is what he is. Dependable senior forward not much speed or ability to bend line. If his role is important to us, as Madge thinks so, I'm for it. I can't wait for the day we have a Gareth Ellis or Marty Tapau type player though.

Gee, sounds like every ‘senior’ player we’ve ever signed. No thanks.

Just because Packer is a dud doesn't mean every prop over 30 is.

Packer would star in the Pamfers pack
With the new kid coming from Parra and Musgrove back on deck it’s a no to Tamau from me

Musgrove didn't really enthuse me.

Are people forgetting that we lack funds and cannot go out and by another game changing forward until we lose Reynolds & Packer... I think its smart if we were to pick up Tamou on say a 2 year deal as he would full in 1 of our front row places and not cost an arm or leg..
Its called a salary cap and I would rather spend a few hundred thousand on Tamou then go without until our salary cap is fixed. We have a heap of Young players that need leadership and he fits that bill.
Remember he is not going to be a superstar and make 200+ m a game so take that out of your minds. (he will do better than Packer)

Tamou is 31, he will be 32 next year. There is a reason he is being let go. Youth and speed, youth and speed.

He's been let go because of the talent Penrith have coming through the younger forwards are all progressing well so its time to move on its called salary cap management and when you have the talent available that Penriff have its vital important to a clubs continued success and a good front rower at 32 years if age is like a fine wine it gets better with age we have some good young forwards BUT we do not have a LEADERSHIP

Then let’s steal some of their Juniors. We don’t need plodder leadership, we have plenty of that. I’ve been hearing the same old rhetoric for nearly a decade and where had it got us? Consistently 9th. How about we change tack and do something different like I don’t know, go for youth and speed instead.

When you look at the top 5 sides they all have a mixture of youth ,30 gamers and 50 gamers as well as 100 game players and older hard heads a team built on youth will always find it difficult prime example BRONCOS at the beginning of the year on paper looked world beaters to many young and big egos no leadership image that side with a Petro or Wally in it.

Forget the Broncos they are a basket case. We have a multi premiership winning coach to guide the young. Besides it’s not like the team now is made up of 18 and 19 year olds. There is enough mature heads to get the job done. More than anything we need some speed, along with some more youth and we have a premiership or three in the making. It won’t be next year, we need to be looking at 2022 and beyond. The time to build is now. Youth and speed is what we need.

It has always been said hat Forwards don't really blossom until late 20's, I think that still holds, you need an old head to steer the young blokes around.

Tamou is just another plodder! Averages only 100 metres a game! We need a fwd that can actually bend the defensive line and get 200+ metres week in week out! Christian Welch is the ideal candidate! But that’s not all, I would go after Max King, Moses Leota, Tom Amone, Kaide Ellis, Lachlan Tim. All these guys have the potential to rack up massive metres when given the chance! And won’t cost an arm and a leg unlike Tamou who is close to retirement!

If Welch isn't signing with dragons because of uncertainty over the coach, we should extend Madge and target him to be our forwards leader

If Tamou is coming does that mean Packer is departing?

You'd like to think so but no, I don't think anyone is crazy enough to take Packer.

St George will take him, mark my words.

I had a look at the stats. James Tamou is having his best season since 2016 when he was still a Cowboy. His numbers have only been down in the last two games. Before them, he was averaging over 150m per game with 96% tackle efficiency. Good lord those are good numbers!

He’s being dragged along by Fisher-Harris and Yeo

Tamou would be good for Huth, Tamou can show him how to make a big career of being a plodder

A plodder who has played Origin and Test footy. And won a premiership.
Good enough for me.

😂😂Ok.
Tamou averages 146 metres, Welch only 119.
Tamou has 95.7% tackle efficiency. If that's plodder status then yes please.
Who are those other blokes you've listed?? Apart from Leota.....never heard of 'em. Are they CC or Intrust players??

Not sure on Tamou, particularly contract length wise. We didn't handle Tapau that well though, as he is usually reasonably controlled by defences that set to come at him from the outside to his left shoulder to mitigate his right arm fend.

People seem quick to forget that the panthers wanted to keep Tamou and he turned their contract offer down. They offered a rolling one year contract.
He would be playing every week for us. Do we really want no one over the age of 24 in our pack? A player who doesn't let their heads drop when a call goes against us?

Losing eiso, Taylor, Clark and seyfarth we actually need another work horse. Otherwise it's only Twal.

Blore, Luciano, aloiai, Mikaele and Musgrove need to be our impact players.

Eisenhuth might still be here next year. I believe the story is we can only offer him a small contract at the moment. Either he signs elsewhere, or waits for us to offload one of Packer or Reynolds. I imagine there is a deadline before he signs elsewhere. Pretty confident he'd get a gig at the Warriors. His defence is decent and he made a difference in that aspect last night.
