Turbo Tom set for return
NRL: Turbo Tom Trbojevic is set for his return to the Manly Sea Eagles this weekend.

**The Sea Eagles will turn their attention to the player market with the likes of Kieran Foran and Luke Garner among potential targets as the club deals with the shock release request of Addin Fonua-Blake.**
Sea Eagles officials were completely blindsided when an emotional Fonua-Blake spoke to the club on Monday and told them he wanted out of the final two years of his deal.
Fonua-Blake told the club he and his young family had a desire to quit Sydney and move closer to family.

Where did the interest in Garner come from? **Clubs can't just start targeting contracted players** or is Madge actively shopping him around? Who knows what's happening behind closed doors.

Hmmmmmm I think we know very well they can

Not being nasty, but I can’t see any team being interested in Cartwright.

He's going somewhere, you don't get an immediate release if you've got nowhere to go.

People seem to have missed the fact that Garner is likely to have been one of the main players who criticised madge and his methods in the recent honesty session. He's been in and out of the team (mostly due to a lack of other options) but has been dropped a few times and moved from left to right edge. If he was outspoken in his critisicm and isn't happy with the way things are going it's quite possible we have let his agent know he's free to shop around.

He's going to be 26 next season, not exactly a youngster, and he has a number of deficienices in his game. Does'nt do dirty hit ups, positioning in defence is poor. contact in defence is poor and very poor goal line defence.

He's a solid backup player to have replacing the likes of Lawrence and possibly MCK. Able to take a bench spot and maybe provide some impact with his lines, and be an emergency centre if absolutely required. If Manly thjink they can cover his deficiencies then good luck to him, we free up a roster spot and a couple hundred k, and won't be chipping in a cent. Likely won't be getting anyone in return though either

Garners biggest issue is , when he is caught out of position in defence , it’s a line break, because he goes for the arm grab, as default. **If he puts his body in front he can whack you.** So if your an attacking team , you constantly have hole runners disgusting the line they’re running , as this has a lot of joy. It really sux , because it’s so bad you Can’t carry him , yet if he fixed it , his positives are that good , when he’s on he’s a real weapon .

I have noticed this more in recent weeks, he has a very 'textbook' tackling method, and loves driving people into the ground. But his scramble/sideways defence is some of the worst I have seen in a 2RW, he is an absolute turn-style. He also often concedes offloads when he goes high.
He runs very good lines and can isolate the opposition half when he wants to. But he never seems to be the one that injects himself into a game, always waits to the game to open up, very much a flat track bully.
Agree he is good for depth but I wouldn't be losing sleep over his departure.

I'd finish up work for the day and just stay on the forum for that. It would be epic.

We all know how these things start

Player agent x rings player agent y and say I have a client who wants out and I know you have a player who is looking for a three year deal up north so if we get in touch with player agent z we might be able to get a deal done. I will tell the clubs when we get the deals done.

My point the player agents control all the player movement and a lot of deals are pretty much stitched up before clubs are involved

He doesn't get an immediate release if a contingency plan for replacements is not in place.

Might have picked up a decent length ESL contract.

He wouldn't get a release if he had nothing lined up, he'd be better off staying at the Titans and stinking it up until his contract runs out.

Unfortunately there is no space in first grade for Garner next year. I like him and he has talent but it’s game over.

Why is it "game over"? Why can't he be coached to improve here?

If he has the deficiencies you believe, why would Hasler want him? If it's true, and I hope it's not, surely it's because Manly sees potential to improve him?

So, why can't that happen here?

TT, I don't think Garner fits Madge's type of 2nd rower, thats all. Just an opinion. He can continue to improve and play NRL but I personally think it will be at another club.

So this young second row giant from the Cowboys will replace him?

Who is that?

A huge 18 year old Kiwi second row forward at 6ft 4 and 104kgs. T. Simpkins if my memory is correct. There was mention of him in this thread.

Yea POM mentioned that we were making inquiries. Can't see the Cowboys letting him sign elsewhere - they have nurtured this kid for a few years and have huge wraps on him.

There's been something smelly about Garner all year, I wouldn't be surprised if we cut him from the last year of his contract.

He had to switch sides and play beside Benji most the season to accommodate LL.

Happy to offload Garner to Manly. Hope Reynolds goes to Super League.
Think we are stuck with Mbye and Packer. Could we get Tamou and Packer as starting props for 20 mins then bring on Twal, Alaioi, Musgrove on.

Still like to get Hetherington. Love his aggression.

Love it as well - hate his lack of self control,
Penalties, send offs and suspensions

Cartwright has been released. Anybody?

hahahahahahaha......

"While I think that is more likely in the Super League, there are clubs in the NRL like the Bulldogs and Wests Tigers that are looking for a bit more creative flair which may suit him too.
